With his body turned into flames he shot up in bed. There wasn't enough oxygen, he was suffocating. He felt his heart ram against his skull and his blood rush through his veins in a speed that couldn't be healthy. His hands were shaking as he tried to control his rapid breath.

"Jungkook? Are you okay?"

He gulped. Calm down, Jungkook, calm down. He felt a hand on his back. It helped him regain control over his breathing.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

His head must've been a tomato right now but he didn't care and looked thankful at his friend. "I'm fine. Just-"

"- a nightmare." Hoseok finished. He smiled vaguely. "You've been having those a lot recently."

Jungkook looked down at his lap. He had told Hoseok about the merman and of course he hadn't believed him. Who would? Who would believe a story of him being seduced by a siren? But because Hoseok didn't believe him, Jungkook hadn't told him about the siren haunting his dreams. He would think he was insane. And maybe he was.

Hoseok gave him a funny smile. "Does it have anything to do with that siren of yours?"

"I know it sounds ridiculous, unrealistic and mad but please, Hoseok. You were there that night. Didn't you see something? Didn't you hear him sing?"

Hoseok thought for a second before shaking his head, almost regretful. "I only saw you, ready to jump into the sea."

"I don't care if you believe me or not, but I know it was real. I saw him. And ever since..." His voice cracks. "Ever since that night, I've been having those dreams. I have the same one, over and over again."

His friend was shaking his head. He stepped back slowly as his expression changed. "What are you saying, Jungkook?"

He scooted closer, grabbed his friend's arm to not have him leave before he had heard everything. "The siren, Hoseok. It's like a curse. It haunts me. Every night he pops up in my dreams and sings his beautiful song. In the last moment when we almost kiss he drags me into the ocean but this time... this time it was different."

"Jungkook... it's okay. It's gonna be okay." The look on Hoseok's face was worse than judgement. It was fear.

He knew he sounded insane but he didn't care. He wanted someone to be there for him, someone who believed him.

"You think I'm insane." He stated. A wave of disappointment hit him harder than expected. Suddenly he felt the urge to cry. It could be the restless nights or his frustration of no one believing him but at this moment, his emotions rushed through him like a hurricane.

"No, Jungkook. I don't think so at all."

A tear rolled down his cheek as he tried to keep calm but it was a useless fight. "I would never lie to you, Hobi."

His friend shushed him and pulled him into a warm, reassuring hug. Petting his hair and stroking his shoulders he tried to give Jungkook a feeling of safety. "I know."

"He's real. He's out there and I am going to find him." His voice was a soft whisper and he was sure Hoseok hadn't heard him, because in return he only received a hum.
