15 years old Ethel lives with her mum and auntie Lídia. She has no friends at school, her grades are average, she has no hobbies... She's that type of girl, who you pass by and don't even notice. Actually, she's being bullied at school. She finds he...
Ethel's POV: I'm on my way to hell and I think I'm going to skip it today. I really don't feel like going back to class. I could go for a walk, or maybe head to a town's library. Just to kill some time until mom and auntie leave for work, so I can go back home. My little cousin Lili is home, because she is sick, but a chocolate bar can make her keep her mouth closed. But I decided not to. 'You can do it, Ethel! You can do it! There is no test today, and your classes for today are just fine. Art, history, english, music, math and spanish. All the things you like and math, where you can at least take a nap. You can do it today!' I had this strange feeling that somebody is following me. I started playing with my bracelets. I was standing right in front of school now. I took a deep breath and entered the building. I took of my jacket, and hanged it into my locker. I took my books and pencilcase out, knowing damn well I haven't done my homework. Not that it actually matters at this point. Math teacher already gave up on me, just like any other teacher at school. I walked right into the class and sat into the back of the class. I was nervously playing with my highlighter. I still felt like somebody is watching me, but I decided not to think about it. The class was already starting. _______________________________________ Few classes later _______________________________________ I had a great nap in the first class, spanish class was alright, just that my teacher wanted me to discuss with her about my weekend. Music was cool, english was just terrible, because of the test I didn't know about and art class was actually fun. I actually got an A! But the feeling of being watched didn't go away. Now there is one more class and I can finally leave!!! I walked to my locker to get my workbook, when somebody grabbed my shoulder. I didn't even have to look who it is. I knew pretty well who it was. Oliver. I turned around. ,,What do you want?!" I got no answer, just milk spilled all over me. 'Like really? This is childish!' I looked up at his laughing face. That laugh actually sounds like loud farts. ,,What the flying...?" 'Cool, now he's running away. Like a fucking child.' I turned around. 'Dickhead' I took my gym clothes out of the locker and slam the door. I head to the restrooms and change my clothes, thinking about every swear word to call that childish di... penis. I can't swear so much, If I said something like that out loud, mom would kill me. I decided to skip class for 3 reasons:
1. I still have milk in my hair and I need to shower 2. I don't wanna stay in one class with Oliver 3. I'm already late
I walked back to my locker, took my bag, packed my clothes and left school as fast as it was possible. I've been literally running home. Partly because I didn't want to be around school anymore, partly because I would swear somebody was behind me, even thought I couldn't see anyone when I turned around. I stoped when I was already at the front door of our flat. I took the lift to 13th floor, walked through the corridor from lift to doors of our flat, opened them and walked in. My cat jumped of the couch, waking up my cousin's one. ,,Hey, Murko! Hey, Mephisto!" I pet Murko's head and put my bag down. My cousin Lili walked out of her room. ,,Hello Ethelka!" (-ka is this thing often put behind female names to make them sound cuter) Lili was 5 and already could speak 2 languages. My mum and auntie are from Slovakia. Auntie Lídia moved here because of work, my mum married a man from here. I was already born here, but I could speak Slovak as fluently as english. And so did Lili. ,,Hello Lili! How are you? Better already?" she ran to me and hugged me. ,,Ye!" I giggled. It's just so funny when little kids talk. And Lili still was talking as a little 2 years old baby sometimes. ,,That's good. Go to your room I will make you some tea." ,,Okay!" Lili ran to her room. I can't remember one single moment when she wasn't running or jumping around. I started making 2 cups of camomile tea, when it hit again. The feeling of being watched.
Melancholy's POV: I've been watching this girl for hours now. She seem nice. I don't understand many things here. One of those is why dis that boy spill milk on her. I need to talk to her. I'm lost here. I don't know how I got here, but there is so much of weird stuff. Like people not using magic to do things. Why would they do that!? She was talking to that little girl in this home. They must be related somehow. She left to another room, I followed her. Those two were sipping tea from their cups. Then the smaller one fell asleep. They were completly silent. Then, the girl I was following went to another, way smaller room.

It was way smaller then the other one and I didn't understand why she didn't stay in the bigger one. ,,Hello, my dear bed! I finally see you!!!" she threw herself onto the bed and stayed whitout moving for a moment. Then she got up and closed the door right in front of me. I couldn't open them, that would scare her. I sat on the floor right in front of her door and started looking around. My look stopped at two creatures watching me. ,,Meow" the black one looks like it's trying to communicate. ,,Meow?" I repeated and waited for what happens. The white one walked closer and laid down. The black one did the same. In that moment, I heard the keys in the keyhole. Front door opened and a young woman entered the place. ,,Hello girls!" she yelled. ,,Hi you two lazy brats!" she looked at those creatures and giggled. ,,I've bought some ham for you two." she headed to the kitchen. I know it was kitchen, because that's were you make tea. ,,Ethelka, zlatko, poď mi pomôcť!!! (Ethel, darling, come help me!!!) " The girl, who's name is obviously Ethel opened the door and walked out, I don't even know how I managed not to get kicked. She walked to the kitchen. ,,Mami, nekrič tak, Lili spí. (Mum, don't yell like that, Lili is sleeping)" ,,Oh, aha... Chceš palacinky alebo ryžu s kuraťom? (Oh, okay... Do you want pancakes or rice with chicken?)" ,,Palacinky (Pancakes)" Woman started heating up pancakes, while Ethel was taking groceries out of the bag and putting them into the fridge. In that moment I heard keys again. ,,Hello Ethel, hello auntie Lenka!" Another girl walked in and locked the door behind herself. ,,Hi Lucy!" said Ethel, not even looking from the groceries. ,,Hello sweetie, do you want to eat?" ,,I'm hungry as a wolf!" Lucy sat on the couch. ,,Jam or Nutella?" asked Ethel closing the fridge. ,,As if you don't know me! Nutella ofcourse!" Ethel put a plate in front of Lucy. ,,Three Nutella pancakes for you, three plum jam for me!" They both started eating and I had to look away. Dang I was hungry! Mum, or auntie Lenka dissapeared in small girls room. _______________________________________ Night time - Melancholy's POV _______________________________________
I took a deep breath. Everyone in the flat was sleeping. Everyone expect Ethel. I knocked at her door. ,,Ethel? Please, open the door..."
Ethel's POV: I heard knocking on the door. I was about to open, thinking it was Lili, but the voice... It sure as hell was not Lili. Or anyone else I know. I ran to the door and locked them. ,,Who are you?" 'Dumbest thing to ask, Ethel, like really' ,,My name is Melancholy." ,,What do you want?" my voice was shaking and I was terrified. ,,I mean no harm to anyone, I'm friendly. Please trust me, let me in." ,,Why should I believe you?" ,,I can't prove what I'm saying, if I'm behind the door." I stayed silent. I was out of words. I shook my head. ,,Was that you following me all day today?" ,,Yes..." ,,Why?" ,,Because I'm not from this world. I'm lost here and you was somehow a pure person I've managed to find, so... I need a help." ,,Sounds crazy. Until you don't prove it, I'm not letting you in."
Melancholy's POV: And what now... I don't have any way of proving it. Finding pure person is extremly hard. Only little kids are pure and they are unable to help me. Some grown up people are pure too. But, it's just a handful of them. I felt so hopeless in the moment. I was holding back few tears, trying to find out what to do now. The only thing I could do was beg. ,,There is no way of me proving that I'm friendly while I'm behind the door. Please, I beg you let me in. I promise I will not hurt you or anyone else..."
Ethel's POV: 'Why do I get manipulated so easly?' I walked to the door. ,,Okay. I'm letting you in. But first, what should I be ready to see? Just so I don't get shocked." ,,I look like a people in here, don't worry. " 'This is probably the worst decision in my whole entire life' I opened the door carefully. The person I've seen was really a human girl... Or at least looked like one. I took a deep breath. ,,Come in." ,,Thank you so much Ethel, I'm glad you let me in!" She looks harmless, and is actually very pretty. She sat on my bed and looked at me. I closed the door. ,,So, your name is Melancholy, right?" ,,Yes." ,,What do you need?" ,,I need somebody to help me survive in this world and find my way home."
