Into the light

Rouxls Kaard has many reasons to be afraid,
The constant risk of being cast into the dungeon, fear of failure, death, he can go on and on.
But one of his biggest fears is the king turning his rage onto Lancer.
And the king was angry.
After he had woken up from his defeat he was infuriated! Going on about the knight and lightners. Rouxls didn't know what he was talking about, he wasn't making sense.
Nobody dared to try and approach the king. They feared for their lives.
But Rouxls... he feared for Lancer's life.
...
He knew what he had to do.
As quickly as he could he found lancer and scooped him up, the young prince was hiding, after standing up to his dad like that, he had good reason to be afraid. As quickly as the duke could he started towards the dark fountain.
"Lesser dad? Where are we going?" Lancer asked confused.
"we... we art going to yonder lightner world" Rouxls explained still moving. They didn't have time to pack.. besides, going without luggage made this easier for him.
"Really!? Oh cool! I can't wait to see Susie and that blue kid again!" Lancer bounces in excitement. Rouxls smiles, glad that lancer is sticking to the positive as he usually does. Rouxls makes it to his store looking over the small crook he called his room one last time.
Probably not the best idea to stop because when he starts to walk towards the throne room he is stopped by the hulking mass of the king himself.
And he looked furious.
"Rouxls Kaard."
"S-sire?" Kaard was already dripping from fear, last thing he wanted was to melt into a puddle now!
Lancer cowered against his chest. The king growled and tried to grab lancer. But Rouxls quickly jumps back. Before the king can lunge at him he summons a large pillar of light and teleported into the throne room. A short distance, but it should give him the time he needs.
He starts running, lancer held tightly in his arms.
Now for the moment of truth.
As the blue Man quickly approached the fountain he called upon his rule magic, declaring loudly
"The darkners Rouxls Kaard and Lancer Spade will be able to freely exist in the light world, permanently."
The amount of magic it took to make a permanent rule change was already great, by doing it for two people was almost more then the duke could handle, but he didn't let himself collapse into a puddle now. Hugging lancer tightly, the duke jumps into the fountain.
Lancer made a surprised yip.
And everything went bright white.

KERTHUNK!
The duke felt himself land on a hard floor, but he was using all of his focus to keep himself from falling apart, he was already melting so much it was a wonder lancer hadn't fallen out of his grip... Wait LANCER! Rouxls feels the young prince wiggle in his hold and sighs in relief, he's here.
"Lesser Dad? Your all goopy." Lancer commented while crawling out of his hold, he puts one small paw hand on Rouxls face, the duke is breathing heavily, but smiles. "Tis nought a bigth deal." He reassured. "I simpley used a greath amount of mine magic. I shalt be fineth" he reassured.
"I'm gunna find a light switch!" Lancer declared. Now that the duke thinks about it... it was very dark in the room.
"Found it!" And with a click the lights turned on. Rouxls squinted as his eyes adjusted to the light he pushed himself into a seated position and looked around the room... a closet?
"Yoooo Lesser Dad look at this!" Lancer said holding up a deck of cards. Roucls could take note now that lancer's outfit changed! He had a hoodie and pants on instead of his Princly attire, the hood was up and the spade shaped shadow was still covering his face.
"What didth thou find, young prince?" He asked as lancer shoved the card into his hand. It was the king of spades, and it looked like... a normal card. Rouxls looked around, all the other items in the room looked like other residence he was familiar with in the dark world as well. He wonders if that is what would have happened to himself and lancer if he hadn't changed their rules. Lancer tugs on Rouxls's sweater... Wait his outfit changed as well? It has! He's wearing a blue turtleneck sweater and long pants. Not very fancy, but comfortable. "Let's go Lesser Dad! I want to find Susie and the blue kid!" Lancer bounced. Rouxls smiles, Lancer was safe. He had composed himself enough so he wasn't melting so he nods and stands up, picking lancer up and holding him close. "Of coarse, let us proceedth!" He says as he walks though the door. The duke pokes his head out, the lights in the hallway are out as well. Nobody seems to be in this building. He slowly walks out of the closet and closed the door behind them. Lancer is looking around excitedly pointing at everything wanting Rouxls to look as well.
Then he heard footsteps.
And Rouxls panicked.
He quickly hid behind a corner, not very creative. But maybe he could at least figure out who's here.

"-I mean I get waking up bright and early to go visit but seriously man? You couldn't have let me sleep a little longer? It's the weekend." A gruff female voice said some distance away. Rouxls thought he recognized it.
Lancer definitely did. He gasped happily and wiggles out of Rouxls's hold. Before the blue man can grab him again Lancer is running around the corner with the biggest grin.
"Susie!!" He cheers catching the purple monster off guard. She wasn't alone, as a human with a green striped shirt was next to her.
"What the hell!? Lancer??!" Susie gawked in surprise as lancer ran up to her. Kris, known for not showing much emotion, looks genuinely surprised, but in their own restricted sort of way.
"I mean, it's great seeing you but uh... How the hell did you get here??" Susie asked. Kris nodded in agreement. Lancer bounced on his feet. "Lesser Dad used his magic and we went though the fountain!" He explains. Rouxls sighs, so much for staying hidden. He makes himself known, by just walking out from behind the corner and to lancers side.
