"Effie, wake up! what part of 'be up at 6' do you not understand?" my roommate screamed through our flat. i groaned at the sight of the time on my phone on the bed next to me. 8:30. fuck. Sighing slightly too dramatically, i rolled out of bed and instantly shivered at the chilling November weather hitting my exposed skin.
My roommate wasn't normally that bossy; today we were getting the train down south to see our friends, Nathan and Shane, who recently moved to London. My roommate, Jasmine, was the more organised one of us and even though our train didn't leave until 10am, she knew it takes me around 3 hours to get ready and that's on a good day. Of course, considering I now had half an hour before we had to leave, i would probably have to go without any makeup on and messy hair. Ugh.
Realising the time, i rushed over to my wardrobe, pulling out an oversized green jumper and then proceeded to my drawers to get out my favourite tartan pants, a belt and my extensive jewellery collection. I had a strange style; some days it was hard to distinguish my clothes from that of a boys, and other days i wore nothing but skirts and dresses. It all depends on my mood i guess. Today was a tomboy kind of day. I speedily changed out of the t-shirt i had slept in and into the selected outfit for the day, and spent at least 5 minutes arranging countless rings, necklaces and chains until i was happy with my look.

I grabbed my phone, charger, shoes and pre-packed suitcase (the only organised part of my entire trip) and headed into the kitchen. Jasmine was sat on a bar stool on her phone wearing full makeup, curled hair and an outfit she had clearly spent an hour planning out, she was like that.

"There you are!" she said, raising her voice slightly. " c'mon we need to leave like right nowww"
"okay okay calm down, jazz. The train's not gonna leave without us." i chuckled.
"No, you idiot. That's exactly what it'll do." she exclaimed as i rolled my eyes at her not picking up on my sarcasm. Me and her were wildly different, but we still somehow got on. I think she kept me on my toes and made sure i actually got shit done, and i made sure she didn't tire herself out to the point where her head implodes. We'd known each other for almost 8 years now; we met as we started high school and have been inseparable since then. We've even decided to live together as we're both, unsurprisingly, attending the same University.*later on at the train station*
The sound of the conductor blasted through the speakers dotted around the train station. " The 10:02 train to London has been delayed due to track maintenance. Stand by for more information and sorry for any inconvenience."
I rolled my eyes as Jasmine let out a loud groan. I got out of bed and left the house without any makeup on for absolutely no reason. Trains from Manchester Station were often delayed so we both knew that it wouldn't just be a 5 minute delay; when there is track maintenance it usually means it's gonna take over 45 minutes. Just what we need. Jasmine and I stroll over to a nearby bench pulling our suitcases behind us and sat down. As Jazz pulls out her phone to call our friend Shane to let him know we were going to be late, i glanced over to the bench on the opposite side of the track. The girl sat on it had been staring at me for a few minutes now and it was starting to annoy me. She had bright pastel pink hair, shaved on the sides which she wore tied up. Her entire outfit was black which made her hair stand out even more and the white headphones placed over her ears were playing music so loud i could hear it slightly even from all the way across the platform. God, she must be deafening herself, i could even hear the lyrics of her music.
Even as I stared back at her, her gaze didn't shift away from me so i rolled my eyes slightly causing her to look to the ground. That was weird.30 minutes had passed since our train was expected and Jasmine finally broke the silence.
"Hey Eff, you know cos you love meeee" she exclaimed as i gave her a look "could you go buy me a cup of coffee?"
"Fine but you owe me" i sighed as i stood up stretching and laughing at the smile on her face. I knew her too well and if Jasmine doesn't get her coffee in the morning she'll be a pain to be around for the rest of the day. As i approached the coffee shop in the heart of the station, i saw a flash of pink next to me. Not making the connection straight away, i turned my head to look and saw the bench girl stood next to me. She had clearly noticed me because she smirked as i turned my head.
"Hi, can i get two black coffees and a chocolate chip cookie please" i noted to the barista and stood back to wait for my order. Now i was closer, i noticed some weird things about the pink haired girl. For one, all her clothes were hanging off her like she had bought them 10 sizes too big. I mean i can't really say much considering i also hate tight clothes but she was taking it to the extreme. Her shoes were the only non-black part of her outfit and stood out against her oversized hoodie and joggers. However they matched the trend of bagginess as they were chunky basketball style white nike's with red laces. I'll give it to her, she has damn good style. I didn't even notice her order and before long she turned around and saw me staring at her. She shot me a white smile and strolled over to me.
