My eyes seemingly scanned the road, my gaze swiftly darting left and right as cars stopped. Letting out a puff of hot breath, I snugged the backpack's strap up closer to the edge of my neck, and let it lay nestled on my shoulder. With a small smile, I made my way over to the bus, and climbed up the few set of stairs. As soon as I reached the top, I looked left and right, checking both aisles. The bus seemed to be empty, so I took the first seat on the left row, and pushed my backpack off of my back, setting down the binder and lunchbox. A frown set upon my face, I zipped open the back zipper and pulled out headphones and a phone, quickly unlocking the phone, swiping the screen and pulling open Pandora. The music began bursting so I quickly put the cord in, and slipped the headphones on. Leaning back, I rested against the seat and stared out the window. I was directly snuggled up against the window-side.
After what seemed like several minutes gone by, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I was faced with a dark-brown haired girl, whose eyes glinted red for a second, which made me jump back. I was greeted with a warm grin, and she squealed, "Hi! My name's Carly! Yours?"
I blinked a few times, but returned a fake-like smile, "Uhh...Karissa. Nice to..meet you.." I whispered softly.
"Oh! That's a pretty name!" She squeaked, and as soon as the bus came to a new stop, she got up and slid into my seat. Earlier, she had been sitting in the seat behind me. I gulped and leaned closer to the window, almost enough to be squished against it, though we had so much space in between one another, "You okay?" Her eyes were full of a weird-like worried expression.
I was utterly confused on why she would even be worried about me at all. It wasn't like we were friends or anything..I think. Letting an audible sigh, I let myself get closer to Carly, and glanced over at her, mumbling, "Yeah. I'm fine." She paid no attention to the drop of tone in my voice, which sort of upset me, though she did give an odd look.
