Chapter 4: Chase!

"Blake listen me, you got to think about the possibilities that could come out of this. It could most likely be a trap. This guy could be looking to kill you" Jayden told Blake feeling worried. Blake, Jayden, and Rachel were all in Blake's room as they were standing over him as he was packing his backpack with a few things that would help him when he got to the sewers. He wasn't listening to Jayden's warnings whatsoever, his mind was set on going to the sewers and getting his mom back safely. "I don't care if its a trap, I'm heading to that sewer plant whether you guys like it or not." Blake stated as he stood up and slung his back pack over his shoulder and attempted to make his way out of his room before Rachel stopped him by standing in front of the door. "Blake seriously, you have to think about this. Who knows what could be waiting for you there. I know you have those strange power thanks to the Anima virus, but what if its not enough?" She asked him with a scared look on her face. Blake then looked at her and growled "You guys don't understand, I cant lose my mom, not now. I lost my dad when I was only 2 and hardly ever knew him, no way am I about to lose my mom to this Mr. T guy!" He snapped at them. Blake had never really yelled at his friends before and he quickly realized this as he took a deep breath to quickly calm himself down. "Look....I know I am probably walking into a trap, but I don't want to lose my mom. She's been with me my whole life, and I cant see my life without her." He said sadly as he looked at the floor. Rachel sighed and went up to him and hugged him tightly, and Jayden put his hand on his shoulder. "Hey man, we want you to get your mom back just as much as you do. That's why me and Rachel are coming with you." Jayden said as Rachel nodded in agreement. Blake looked at the both of them in shock. "Are you guys sure about this, I don't want to rope you into my trouble." He said looking between the both of them. Rachel chuckled "Kind of late to say that Blake, besides we would have come with you anyway. We've all been together for a long time and that's not stopping now." Rachel said as she and Jayden moved back a bit from him. Blake looked at the both of them for a moment before letting out a small chuckle. "Thanks guys." He told them as they all made their way out of the house.

The letter that the strange Mr. T left for them was telling the truth, the fallen tree's lead the way all the way all the way to an entrance to on old sewer plant. The sewer plant was one of the first made when Rotorville was just starting out, but once the town began to prosper it was put out of commission once a better sewer system and plant was created. Once Blake and his friends approached the rusted Rachel groaned and covered her nose with her hand. "Uhhhhhh, it might have been abandoned for a long time but it still smells like its being used." Rachel groaned Blake rolled his eyes and walked up to the sewer entrance, it looked like there used to be some metal bars and a door but they looked like they had been bent into awkward shapes, or shocking bit to piece. "Whatever did this must have had very strong teeth and must have been extremely violent as well." Jayden said as he picked up own of the bitten piece's of metal. "And whatever that thing is, is probably the thing that ripped a hole in my house and wrecked those trees." Blake said as he took out a flashlight and shined it down the path. "Man that's dark, you guys stay behind me and stick close. I don't want any of us to get lost in there." He told them as they all entered the old sewer system. The old tunnel into the sewer system was dark and damp and as Rachel stated before, smelled terrible! They all walked for a bit until they walked through a passage that lead into an even bigger sewer tunnel where it had multiple sewer tunnels all coming into one. The strange thing was that there was actually sewer water coming out of most of the other tunnels. "What the, I thought this place was shut down, how is there still sewer water coming through the tunnels here." Jayden said as he looked up and down the large tunnel. "I have a feeling that someone is using the sewer for something." Rachel said as she looked from Jayden to Blake. Blake shrugged and began leading the group down the tunnel in the direction the water was heading. The tunnel had an even worse stench than the previous tunnel as they continued, but one thing they noticed about this tunnel is that their were many little things crawling around. Rats. "What's going on." Blake said as he shined the light in other places of the tunnel as more and more rats were coming out of no where. Now it wasn't surprising to see a lot of rats in a sewer but this was ridiculous. Blake and Rachel kept walking but Jayden had stopped to look behind them, though they sudden heard him stop walking. "Jayden, hey man why'd you stop?" Blake called back as he turned around to see Jayden sprinting by them. "RUN!" He yelled as both Blake and Rachel looked back. There looked to be a black wave of large rats, squeaking madly and running toward them in a huge swarm. Rachel screamed but Blake pushed her forward. "GO GO GO!" He yelled as they sprinted after Jayden. They all sprinted down the tunnel as the dark swarm of rats chased them down the tunnel till they all came to a drop off into a lower tunnel. They all looked back as the rats were coming for them. "JUMP, DONT THINK JUST JUMP!!" Blake ordered them as they all jumped yelling as they fell into the lower tunnel.

THUD!

They all hit the ground feet first as it sent a chill up Blake's body, but both Rachel and Jayden fell on impact. Jayden then yelled out and cursed but Blake was quick to act to put a hand to his mouth. "Quiet, just hold in that for just a moment." He told him as he looked up. The squeaking from the rat storm above went for a long time before dying down. Once it did Blake let go of Jayden's mouth as he gave a pained grunt. "I think I sprained my ankle on the way down." Jayden said as he held his left ankle. "Damn...that was a pretty long fall, no way we could go back up there." He said as looked back up from the way they came. He then looked around to where they landed. The tunnel was circular and the sewer water fell from where they came into a large drain like grate in the center of the room. At one end of the room was a door that lead outside, hinting by the afternoon sun that was peeking in. The other side of the room though had a dark passage leading into another part of the sewer. Blake looked toward that passage and then looked back at his friends. "Rachel, get out of here and take Jayden with you and find someone to help with his leg." He said as he turned to leave. "Wait what are you going to do?" She asked as she helped Jayden stand up. "I'm heading this way to find where it leads, and hopefully it will lead me to my mother." He told them. "Blake wait!" Jayden stopped him as he took two things out of his pockets. He took out a walkie talky and some weird looking box with a screen. "Take this walkie talky so we can stay in contact, and this little beauty is my owe invention. I call it the Mapper. it acts like a sonar but it works when your walking and helps you watch where you going even when its dark." He said as he flipped it on for Blake and gave him the two items. Blake smiled and pocketed them, "I promise I'll come back when I've checked it out." He told them. After saying their good byes they all turned and went in their different directions. Rachel took Jayden and walked out of the sewer system, and Blake looked toward the dark passage and took a deep breath and walked inside. It was dark, real dark, even with his flashlight. It seemed like he had been walking for an hour in silence but then all of a sudden lights shone around him and then began to light up. The lights came from the floor and lead forward as they led into a large dome-like room. Soon the room exploded into light as stadium lights shown at Blake as he put a hand up to block them until his eyes dilated. Once they did, he noticed a man standing in the room wearing a grey suit and a red tie.

"Welcome Mr. Core.....I've been expecting you." The man said with a pleasant but distrustful grin on his face. "My name.....is Mr. Tsao"
