They walked in, and Louis groaned.
Drunk people grinding on each other and shitty music blaring in the background.
How fun.
He stood there, denying all the people that asked him to dance.
He finally decided he had had enough, and went outside for a smoke.
He went to the back, sitting under the fire escape.
He lit a cigarette, inhaling.
He sighed, he was just one of those people that were destined to die alone.
"Hey, spare a cigarette?"
Louis turned to see a man towering over him, a head of curls made out in the dark.
The man walked closer.
He had green eyes, and pale skin.
He wasn't particularly ugly.
"Sure mate." Louis said, handing him a cigarette.
The man thanked him, lighting it.
They stood there in silence.
"What are you doing here?" The man asked finally.
Louis cocked an eyebrow, but what the hell.
"My friends are inside, I'm not a fan or parties, or people."
"Same here." The man said.
"Louis."
"Harry."
They gave nods.
They stood there yet again, nothing to say.
The back door swung open, making the men jump.
A couple stumbled out, slamming into the wall, the sucking noises and slurping filling the alley.
Louis and Harry shared a grimace.
Harry motioned up, and Louis nodded.
They climbed up the fire escape, until they reached the roof.
They sat atop the roof, looking out on the sky.
Louis walked to the edge, and sat, watching the cars swerve by.
"Hey, be careful." Harry said in a monotone voice, a squeak of emotion betraying him.
He hardly knew this man, but he really didn't want to experience his death.
At least not yet.
"Some people don't value life as much as others." Louis called.
A hand grabbed his, pulling him away.
"If you die, who's gonna give me another cigarette?" Harry grinned.
He had dimples.
************
The men sat there, sharing little bits of conversation.
"Where are you from?" Harry asked.
"Doncaster" Louis answered. It was strange. Harry and him had been talking for quite a while, and he hasn't pissed him off yet.
That's new.
"I'm from Holmes Chapel." Harry mentioned.
"Then what are you doing here?"
"Running away."
"From what?"
Silence.
"Oh, sorry, sensitive subject." Louis muttered.
"Um yeah, I don't mean to be rude or anything."
"Trust me mate, you don't have to explain anything to me."
Louis yawned involuntarily.
"Tired?"
"Yeah, but I don't have a ride."
Harry's eyes lit up.
Oh no.
"Well, I mean, I could walk you.."
"It's pretty far..."
Silence yet again.
Funnily enough, Louis didn't really didn't want to leave Harry so soon.
For some weird reason.
"Well I mean, if you want, you could, um, spend the night at my place, not like that, just on, like the bed, and I could sleep on the couch, or you could sleep on the couch."
Louis couldn't help but smile.
Harry was quite cute.
But he could not.
Would not.
Get attached to him.
Feelings always screw things up.
"Um, yeah sure." Louis said quietly.
Harry's eyes shined.
"Um, okay so um, let's um, go now, if you want we don't have to."
"Yeah, we can go now."
"Oh, okay."
And they were off.
