We pulled up to the deserted dock, the dirt parking lot overgrown and tire tracks sparse. We approached the wooden planks cautiously, but it was silent as we sat down waited, each of us holding a hand over the place in our waistband where we were holding our guns. I'm not a crack shot or anything, but I can hit a target, and any kind of protection was better than walking into this blind. We sat there for ages, my head on his shoulder as we reminesced.
"You remember the first day of freshman year, when that senior Tony Williams asked your name and you almost fainted? You thought he was sooo hot." I blushed and swatted him, "You're no better! You literally drooled over Keira Fry for ages just because she had long legs and knew how football worked."
"Or the first time you felt Kenz kick, and you drove all the way to my office so I could feel it too?" I smiled, "I didn't want you to miss out. It's not like you didn't tape the first sonogram to your forehead so everyone you came across would see it!"
He grinned, then his eyes smoldered, "Our wedding day, though. That's one of my favorites." His hand caressed my cheek, "For many reasons." I raised my eyebrows, "That was the most pitiful innuendo I've ever heard you make." He winked, "Yeah, but you know it's true."
I blushed, and he leaned down to kiss me, "I love you." I squeezed his hand, "I love you too. More than anything. Except Kenz, but she's half you so same difference." He laughed, "Yeah, you too Scar. You hold my heart."
"How sweet. I could just puke." We both jumped up to find a salt and pepper haired man, maybe mid forties, watching us from a few yards away. He looked incredibly fit for his age (though I suppose running around murdering people will do that for you) and held a pistol in each hand; ambidextrious, even better. I had hoped to shoot him in the arm and dehabilitate him, but now I would have to get both arms. There goes plan A. Well techincally plan B, plan A was to wait it out until he died, but obviously that's not going to happen.
"It's nice to finally meet you in person. Tracking you down all these years, and hiring people to follow you the last week or so, it just wasn't as good as this. I'm definitely going to enjoy this one."
Alex choked out a laugh, "Oh, you enjoy being a psychopath? That's just rich. You need help, man. And I'm gonna help you right into a cemetary plot!" He started foward, but I grabbed his arm. "No, Alex. Don't be rash."
"You should listen to your little girlyfriend, well baby mama now I guess. But then you have always had a temper. Or at least that's what the teachers always put on your record. Bet your parents didn't like that very much."
I pressed my mouth to Alex's ear, "Stay calm. We're okay. We need to make a plan before you go all terminator on him. Let's just figure something out first."
Alex was still tense, but his face was wiped smooth, and the edges of the man's mouth )I decided to call him Hades) turned up, and he looked me up and down. "Not bad, sweetheart. Maybe I'll just kill him and keep you around for kicks."
"Shut the f--" "Alex, stop. Let me handle this piece of trash." I stepped foward.
"You know what? I've hated you for so many years now, and I always imagined if I met you I would cuss you out, and I'll admit I'm still considering it. But you know what? I want to thank you. Because yeah, you're the biggest jerk on the planet, and I hope you rot in prison, and then burn in hell, but you've made a lot of my life possible. I came here and got amazing foster parents, who have shown me love so incredible that I never would've imagined. I met fantastic friends, who make my life unbelievably better. And the best thing of all? You basically ensured I ended up with Alex, who I could never live without, and that led to the birth of my daughter, who is the most important person in the entire world. So yeah, thanks jackass."
