Downtown, Lagos.

"I'm so sorry Chi, I didn't know you wanted us to wait for you ..." I move the phone away from my ear as her voice got louder, "Chill nah. Why would you even think I was ignoring your calls on purpose?"

"Okay where are... " I'm met with the sound of a phone clicking. She had ended the call.

Damn, I mutter to myself ignoring Solape who found all of this amusing.

"Amy! Did she really think we were going to wait? Remember the last time she left us when we were supposed to leave school together," Solape says her eyebrow raised, tone harsh, "Yeah. I'm not over that yet" she concludes, shaking her head.

I stare at her for a few seconds, the time where she kept me waiting at the saloon for three hours crosses my mind but I don't say anything.

It was a norm for her and Cheryl to get into meaningless fights with each other so I don't respond.

"Babe, forget that girl. I will see you later." Her voice interrupts my thoughts and I offer her a smile as she makes her way out of the door.

I take a look at the wall clock on the blue coloured walls. It was 6:00pm. I move over to the bed in the centre of the room.

We had each contributed money to rent an apartment here in Lagos, so we had a place to stay whenever we came for work.

Cheryl didn't join us to work but she was all for travelling and partying. It was difficult combining final year and work together but I had to.

Opening a can of monster I had taken from the fridge my thoughts begins to wander, going to the events of the past few hours.

Solape had sounded like she didn't want Cheryl in Lagos and I had chucked it up to them having one of their silly fights.

If she's upset cos Cheryl kept us waiting then that's some bullshit cos we girls do that all the damn time.

It didn't matter that we were friends turned family, each others ride or die; but Solape could be really annoying and sometimes unforgiving.

The girls and I had planned to go all the way from Abuja to Lagos for a party. We were supposed to leave together but Cheryl had spent the night out and was not back by the time we decided to leave.

It didn't bother me much, I knew she was going to catch up with us. It wasn't her first time of doing this.

Are you gonna dance? If I show you the money, baby oo

My phone's ringtone brings me out of my reverie. I pick it up to see a picture of Cheryl smiling at me with her name written in big, bold, black letters. I smile as I pick up the phone.

'Hello." Her voice was barely above a whisper and I struggled to hear what she had to say.

"I'm sorry," I finally say when she still doesn't utter a word.

"Will you cut me some slack and let me speak into my phone?" Cherly says with enough force that could scare a stranger.

Trust Chi not to let things die easily. I wasn't bothered though, "I swear I heard you chuckle. You miss me too, say it." I knew just the buttons to press.
