Chapter Twenty-Six: Secrets

I woke up, screaming. Sweat soaked my t-shirt, my hair was pasted to my head. I stopped screaming as soon as I realised where I was and brought the duvet closer to me, guarding my body. I was back in the room I woke up in so many nights ago. I cupped my face in my hands, feeling the hot tears still streaming down my face. This the seventh nightmare in a row. When were they going to end? I abruptly sit up on the bed, something I probably shouldn’t have done. The walls started to shift and I suddenly feel as if I’m on a rollercoaster. Bile rises in my throat.  Shoving the duvet off of my, I make a beeline for the toilets. As soon as I see it, I get down on my knees and relieve my stomach empty of all its contents. I start to heave when I hear someone come in. Out of the corner of my eye I see that it’s Niall and I begin to panic.

“S-stay away from me! I yell at him in fear. From all the crazy things that have happened in the past few days, my dream coming true seems less crazy than them all. Flushing the toilet, I scoot to the nearest wall to get father away from him. I cringe at the bitter taste in my mouth. Niall looks at me, perplexed. He takes a step forward and I yell at him again to stay back. Of course, he ignores me and comes closer to squat down in front of me. I was shaking so bad, Niall was a blur. I felt like a person who was practically blind without their glasses. Niall raises his hand to caress my cheek but quickly puts it back down when I flinch. He frowns.
“Are you okay? Y/N?”
“D-don’t act like you care,” I seethe through my teeth.
“Y/N, I’m trying to help you. Is that not caring?” He whispers. I ignore him. Wrapping my arms across my chest, I slowly stood up. He followed my movements.

“Do you need some water?” He asks.
“I’m fine,” I snap. Why am I getting angry? He just wanted to ask if I needed water. I softened my voice and spoke again, “I just need a toothbrush…and some mouth wash…please.”
Niall smiles. “Can do, Miss. I will return shortly.” Niall turns around to leave. I shut the door from behind and look at myself in the mirror. I am shocked by the girl staring back at me with tired, but widening eyes. Her hair was tousled and very tangled, eye bags dropped under her eyes, and her face haven’t any colour. She was frowning at the mess she had become. I turned around and walked over to the gigantic glass shower and turned the nozzle. Warm water started to drizzle. I stripped myself of my clothes and stepped under the faucet. This was nice. I filled my mouth with the warm water to get rid of the nasty taste in my mouth. After washing myself off with a sweet, coconut scented shampoo, I stood in the shower until all the hot water ran out. Stepping out of the shower, I wrapped a large, fluffy white towel around my body and saw that

Niall had returned with a new tube of toothpaste, a freshly unpacked blue toothbrush, and a new bottle of mint mouthwash. He had also provided me a hairbrush, elastic ties, tampons, and is that…lip gloss? I rolled my eyes. He must have had Samantha get this stuff for me. I was curious to where she was in this massive house. I smiled. She must have been so pissed that I wore her clothes. Grabbing my new toiletries, I went back to my room. I was surprised with more stuff sitting on my bed. Ten shopping bags and at least twelves boxes worth of shoes surrounded my bed. Three gigantic bags from Sephora sat on the desk in the corner. I was right, Sam was really pissed with me wearing her clothes. But she didn’t have to go out and buy me clothes. That was sort of…nice. I peeked in one of the bags and took out whatever my hands touched first and threw it on. After I braided my hair, I took a final look at what I had put together. I was wearing a floral skirt with a wide white belt with a gold hook, a frilly white tank top and a light blue jean jacket. The brown combat boots suited the outfit well.

“Well don’t you look beautiful?” A familiar voice remarked. I looked in the mirror and focused my eyes on the doorway of my room. Samantha leaned against the door, her arms crossed, a smirk spread wide on her face.  I clenched my teeth at her present. I closed my eyes and counted to ten in my head. When I reached the last number, I opened my eyes and smiled.
“Sam. Beautiful as always aren’t you?”
“I would say the same. But I don’t like you.” Samantha crosses over into the room and plops down onto my bed, shifting the bags. She looks into one of them and pulls out a purple scarf with white trimmings on it. “Ooh this is cute. I could totally use this.”
I snicker. “Go ahead. You bought it anyways.”
She looks at me, like as if I was growing a finger on my forehead or something. “What? I didn’t buy this stuff. Ha. If I did I would have totally kept it for myself, don’t you think? I will take this scarf though, if you don’t mind. Oh, and those black pumps.”
Now it was my turn to look confused. “What do you mean you didn’t buy these? If you didn’t, then who did?”
“Oh, Niall had some personal Aba—”
“Samantha, can I talk to you for a minute?” Niall said. How did he get here so fast? What? Niall had an angry look on his face. He was clearly not happy with what Sam was about to tell me. But…why? Samantha’s eyes widen as she realises she was about to reveal too much. Or that she knew the consequences for what she was about to say would be severe.
“Y-yes, Niall. I’ll j-just go downstairs.”
Niall nods at her. When she’s gone, he looks at me, a warm glow suddenly filling his face, quickly replacing his flaming anger. “Find everything alright? You look wonderful.”
I blush. Seriously? “Yes. Perfectly fine. What is up with Sam? Who bought me these clothes?”
His smile disappears. His eyes start to turn that awful red colour that scares the hell out of me, but he catches it and they turn back to their bright blue. “It’s none of your concern. Meet me in the corridors in twenty minutes. Don’t be late.”
“Is that an order?” I challenge him.
“Yes, it is. Is there a problem?”
“You’re not scaring me. And yes, it is a problem,” I place my hands on my hips.
“How so?”
“I am not a child!”
“Then don’t act like one. Twenty minutes,” he begins to turn away, but I wasn’t done with him yet, oh no.
“Or else what?”
He stops in his tracks and turns around to face me again. He smiles.  “I have a very enticing punishment for you if you don’t, Miss Y/L/N. Do you dare to challenge me further?”
“We’ll see,” I said in a low voice. He turns around, but not before he slips me a discrete wink. He is sofrustrating.

As soon as Niall was out of earshot, I followed him downstairs into a massive library that I had not seen when I was running for my life the other day. I had to be very careful to stay away in a certain distance, just enough to where my thoughts couldn’t be heard by Niall. If hDe knew what I was thinking, I’d be busted for sure. And I wasn’t up to knowing what kind of punishment he had in mind. Carefully, I slipped my head around the corner. Suddenly, I accidently bang my knee into the wall and yelp. I cover my mouth to muffle the sound. Niall turned his head, but luckily I hid back into my little corner before he could see me. I prayed he wouldn’t come over and discover my little spot underneath the small table in the corridor. When I felt that it was safe again I looked around the corner. Niall was no longer there. He just…disappeared. Where did he go? Quietly, I crawled out of my hiding area and snuck into the library. I heard a muffle of voices. And then shouting. I used my best ear instincts to find out where the voices were coming from. I walked towards the center of the library to get a better sense. The noise was coming from the right, where I just saw Niall. The book shelf was huge. At least one and a half stories tall. I rest my ear against the books. Was Niall…inside the bookshelf? I suddenly could hear the voices more clearly.

“YOU IDIOT! YOU ALMOST RUINED ME! HOW COULD YOU BE SO CARELESS?” I heard Niall yell.
“You’re going to have to tell her soon anyways! I was doing you a FAVOUR!” Sam hissed.
“I DON’T NEED YOUR FUCKING HELP. I CAN HANDLE MYSELF.”
“OH REALLY? YOU’RE TELLING THE PERSON THAT YOU ASKED HELP FOR TO FIND HER AND NOW YOU’RE TELLING ME YOU CAN HANDLE YOURSELF? I THINK NOT.”
“YOU TRY GETTING HER ON YOUR GOOD SIDE. SHE CLEARLY DOESN’T THINK VERY HIGH OF YOU.”
I suddenly heard a hard slap across skin. It was so intense, I almost felt as if the slap was given to me.
“THE ARCHANGELS WON’T WAIT ANY LONGER.”
“THEN TELL THEM I NEED MORE TIME. IT’S NOT VERY EASY TO GET A STUBBORN GIRL TO FUCK YOU, YOU KNOW. CHESHVAN IS IN TWO WEEKS. CAN’T THEY JUST BE A LITTLE MORE PATIENT?”
“You try telling them that. I am not going to do all of the dirty work for you.” Samantha insists.
“Demons always do all the dirty work. You after all are the messiest creatures in existence. Isn’t that what your mother told you?”
I hear a muffled crunch of a bone, and Niall’s yelling and cursing at Sam. I gasped. I had to get out of here.
“My mother was a bitch. But this isn’t about me. You tell them you need more time or get your Fallen ass kicked. I’ll wash the dishes and do the laundry but no way in hell will you make me deal with the enemies of God for you.”
Glass was being thrown against the wall. I could hear the pages of books fluttering and thudding to the wooden floor. “Do it Samantha. Or I’ll make sure your demonic ass gets a whooping out of it too. If I go down, you’re coming too. The Archangels want to play? Well then let’s play.”

And that’s when I started to run.
