Nariah stopped crying, sniffed, and felt her courage rush back to her. She just had to hold on. She scowled with all her righteous might at the evil wizard. "You can never hurt me, Gorchen. My daddy will save me. He always does."
"Not today he doesn't, you insipid baby," Gorchen roared. Gorchen reeled back the mace and swung the black spiked ball toward her.
From out of the boiling blue lava came up flying Redemptor—a purple, blue, and orange bolt of power and salvation and good—his silver staff Xiphos in his hand, and Shadowslider spread out from over his shoulders as feathery black wings.

With one swoop of Xiphos, the true Redemptor knocked the mace away from Nariah and it smashed into Gorchen's gold-helmed own face, crunching the gold inward with a sickening clang. "Aghhh!" Gorchen exclaimed.
Wrapping his strong arms around Nariah, Redemptor pointed the sliver staff at the jeweled ceiling before them, firing an orange blast. The jewels shattered and off Redemptor, Nariah, in his arms, flew into the freedom of night, while Gorchen wailed behind and below.

Nariah looked into Redemptor's face and she saw that it was herfather wearing that blue helmet, smiling back at her. Yes, her father, Rene Naza, was Redemptor. He said, "Why, hello, my love. You miss me?"
Below, Mount Veda erupted its blue lava, and the blue lava rained around them yet no drops struck them. "You dropped these," he said, and he returned the seven rainbow beads to the braid of her hair.
"I knew it, Daddy," Nariah whispered, full of joy, nuzzling to his armored chest, "I knew it all along it was you."
"You did? Wow," Redemptor replied, smiling, "You could have told me. I am totally surprised right now."
"Silly, Daddy. 'Scause you just need to believe in yourself." She hugged him tight and let her pink balloon go, and that balloon drifted up, up, up, toward the full moon of Fait.
