Today was school. Maisy's mom came in to wake her up at 6:20AM. She eventually sat up and glanced across her bedroom to the outfit she had planned the night before.

She put it on, washed her face, and put her hair into some French braids

She put it on, washed her face, and put her hair into some French braids. She decided to skip breakfast and brush her teeth before doing some homework that she had procrastinated doing over the weekend. 8:00 eventually came and she grabbed her school bag and answered the door to Stanley.
"bye mom!" she yelled
"bye love! I'm working until 8 today by the way!" her mom yelled back. Maisy stepped out of the door and started walking beside Stan.
"morning"
"hey" he replied.
"so what did you do yesterday?"
"bird watching." Stanley enjoyed bird watching. He said it calms him and it's just a hobby he never dropped.
"you see anything good?"
"nope. Same old things really"
"we should go on a walk, find some new places. Maybe you'll find something new" Maisy said with a smile
"I'd like that" he smiled back "did you do anything worth mentioning yesterday?"
"not really. I went grocery shopping and that's it. But at least the quarry was fun."
"agreed. By the way you dropped that weird thing you put in your hair" he pulled out Maisy's pink scrunchie and handed it to her.
"oh thanks! I was looking for that"

They walked into school at the same time as Richie and Eddie, this was a usual occurrence. They were arguing about something neither Stanley or Maisy cared enough about to participate so they just casually walked beside them until it ended. Beverly, Ben and Bill were stood by Bill's locker so the 4 of them joined. This was Maisy's least favourite time of the day because it was crowded.

The day really dragged. Mondays had the worst lessons. Extended Homeroom, Math, English, science and geography. The final bell was everyone's favourite sound. The losers met outside of the South exit and had plans to go to the river after school.

Mike was already there waiting as he was home schooled. The losers were the first friends he really had because he lived and worked on a family farm by the edge of Derry. Mike was the most humble loser and easily the most genuine.

"Mikey boy!" called Richie as the seven approached the boy sat by the water
"hey! How was school?" he asked
"awful." "a drag" "shit" "boring" "alright for me" "it made me want to kill myself" "ugh"
Clearly the losers lOvEd school. Well, Ben did, but he was the only one. Mike always wanted to go to a real school but the losers assured him that it was absolutely not worth it and they'd all rather be careerless and illiterate than go back to that shit hole. All the kids were sat on the grass listening to Richie blabber on about some 'urban legend of Derry'
"so they were preparing to do it and then the girl realised that they forgot the rubbers....so they used a sandwich bag instead"
"that's disgusting! I mean, do you know how many infections that can give you? People need to think about these things!" Eddie was about to give a rant about hygiene.
"it's probably bullshit" Beverly tried to prevent the rant
"but how do we know that?" here we go...
"hey how about we go to that diner?" Bill very quickly interrupted
"yep! Better not waste any time, I want a smoothie" Maisy jumped up and started skipping away from the river, forcing the others to run in order to catch up to her.
