Murmuring...

Whispering...

Clicking...

A faint beeping?

Am I dead yet?

You slowly cracked your eyes open to gaze around the room you were in. There was an IV attached to your arm, a syringe laying next to a small bottle labeled 'Anesthesia.' But the room you were in wasn't a hospital room. It looked like sort of a lab, various little machines laying on a table opposite the makeshift cot you were laying on.

And of course, curiosity got the better of you. You needed to know where you were.

You slowly stood from the cot, having plucked the IV from your arm, using the wall and a chair for help. Now on your feet, you took a step forward to begin your adventure around the mysterious place before you were keeling over, holding your stomach. You grunted quietly, blinking your eyes quickly to stave off the oncoming tears at the pain.

You slowly straightened once more. What was that? You looked down at your stomach, lifting your shirt to reveal bandages covering your torso. You could see the faintest sight of stitches coming from the top of your bandages. Then it all came running back to you.

The fight. The ninjas. Don. I got stabbed.

You looked over at the IV bag, the anesthesia, piecing it all together. Someone took care of you. Patched you up. How kind of them.

Still curious, you were determined to get to the door. Holding onto the wall for support, you took small steps forward, learning that small steps affected your wound less.

After what felt like forever, you were there. The door. Grasping the doorknob, you opened it just a tad, peeking out into a common room type area, equipped with a TV, couch, and a big computer. Opening the door a little wider--the door letting out a quiet creek--you saw four turtles-hey, one of them's Don-and a short rat whispering off a little ways from the room you were in. Upon hearing the door opening, all five of them paused in their hushed conversation and turned their heads to look at you. You had no time to react before your eyes were locked with Don's.

Giving them a nervous smile, you raised your hand to wave at them but quickly realized your mistake. Wincing in pain, you glanced at your stomach, the cause of your discomfort. Looking back up, Don and the orange-banded turtle were rushing to your aid, the blue- and red-banded one following behind a bit slower, giving each other weary glances.

"What are you doing out of bed? You'll irritate your wound! You shouldn't be moving around anyway, you could open your stitches," Don was already lecturing you by the time he got to the doorway, making his way inside the lab. You didn't know how to react to this sudden onslaught of worry, barely moving away from the door before the orange-clad one barged his way in as well.

"Well, good morning, sleeping beauty!" He beamed at you. Raising your eyebrow at his friendliness, you granted him a smile in return, yours a bit more hesitant.

"Mikey, before you start trying to talk to her, you should probably let her sit down," Don told the orange one-Mikey-exasperatedly, rolling his eyes.

"Oh! Right! Right this way, new girl," Mikey guided you back to the cot you came from, relieving you because you having to take yourself would've taken ages.

By now the room had gained three more visitors as well, the red- and blue-banded turtles and the short gray rat they were talking to earlier. Red and Blue glanced at each other before Blue stepped forward, gaining your attention.

"I would like to thank you, for saving my brother," Blue bowed at the waist in your direction. You blushed, it really wasn't a big deal, and you needed them to know that.
