I looked around and I was hovering above brilliantly blue water in an all white room that seemed to go on forever in every direction. The girl was in front of me standing in the water. She was dressed in gems fit for a queen with a trident. Her hair was long and flowing as if she was underwater. Her hand was still placed on mine and without moving her mouth she spoke. "You are like me. You can hear the creatures of this earth. Speak to them. I am pleased you can hear me this way, I do not know your language yet. I have learned a few things from those testing me. Injecting me with harmful things. They call me "monster" or test subject". These are not what I am. I am awake now so they may stop calling me this." She looked at me questioningly and said, "You have questions. Ask and I will answer." I thought carefully about what I should ask, being careful about which questions I choose as to not make her uncomfortable. " What are your powers? They wouldn't have kept you if you didn't possess something extraordinary." She thought silently before answering. "Your kind is strange with words." she giggled. "My 'powers' as you so called them are not like any other. Back home I am of a royal bloodline of warriors. We are gifted with the ability to move faster on land and in the seas. I am set apart from my family because of these 'powers' that you have been gifted with as well as the boy. My other gift is illusion. I can tamper with reality for a short period of time. Back home, I used this newfound ability to try and save my home, but regretfully it didn't work. I used my power to its limit and my vision faded to black. Next thing I knew, I see you giving me a 'death glare' as you call it." Wow. Illusion? And she's like me? She was born with so many great things, along with a royal title. "Wait, your home? You keep saying something about your home. Where is it?" She smiled at me and pulled down her silk scarf to reveal what looked like.....wait, are those gills? "I hail from what you people refer to as Atlantis. There I am known as Rahva. But you may translate my name to Rayna. I was the princess there." The room shook and she started to fade. "Get me out of the tank. I will not harm you and you need to trust me. Please don't leave them with me again."
I opened my eyes to see Jacob staring at me and yelling my name. "Hanna! Wake up!" Ugh...does he have to yell? "Seriously? Do you have to yell? I'm literally right here." I snapped. "You blacked out. Well, you didn't 'black out' in the normal sense, your eyes started glowing and you hovered for a while and then you fell, but I caught you!" He said with a smile. "Are you ok? What happened? Did she do something to you?" He rattled off. I stood up and grabbed a key off of a desk. This should be the right one. I calmly walked over to the tank's controls as Jacob was still prattling on about this trapped princess. I put the key into the manual override and turned it as the water drained. I pushed the 'open' button and the tank opened with a hiss. "HANNA! What are you doing?!" Jacob yelled as he ran to me to stand between me and her. The door swung open and she stepped out. Her hair was flowing again. Just like in the vision....or was it a dream? Whatever it was, she is just as majestic. She was out of the tank now, looking around at all of the people there. All the scientists, the other recruits, Jacob, and finally her eyes found me. She stretched her arm out to me and I reached through Jacob's barricade to touch her arm. "They do not need to be hostile with me. I will not harm them, regardless of what they've done to me. Please tell them to leave me." I stepped out from behind Jacob and walked in front of her. "Rayna, put your hands on my shoulders." I thought and she obliged. I hope this works. I opened my mouth to act as a vessel for her to speak since she didn't know English well. "My name is Rahva. Translated to English, it is Rayna. I have no wish to harm you even though you have shown me no kindness. Please allow me to stay for the time being, as my home was destroyed. I will allow you to learn about my home, but first we must trust each other mutually." She said and took her hands off of me. I fell to one knee, exhausted. It worked! I didn't know that it would. At least I know that works now. Jacob rushed over to me and helped me up. He's being unusually clingy. Rayna walked over to a scientist and he offered her his lab coat to cover up. They had put her in a tight wetsuit, but it didn't hide anything. The man led her to an empty room for her to stay. "Well, that was....eventful." Jacob muttered. "Would you like to see my room now?" He asked. He seemed irritated by the whole thing. Whatever, I'll figure it out later. "That sounds great." I replied with a smile.
