The school day dragged on with the anticipation of this "explanation" of what the hell was going on, why I could talk to animals, and what the organization that he kept talking about was. It was last period and I was watching the clock like a hawk, preparing for the blaring sound that would signal answers. There were ten minutes left in class. "Miss Hanna, are you paying attention?" the teacher asked. "Yes Mrs. Harbinger. X is equal to 23 over 13." She looked surprised and nodded as she continued the last few moments of the lesson. 'Come on....hurry up bell!' I think as I sit at my desk, impatiently bouncing my knee. RIIIIIIINNNG! I bolt up out of my chair and somehow manage to grab my bag in the mad dash for the door. I make my way outside to the front of the building, anxious for answers and sit by a pillar at the entrance, waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Is he even gonna show? It's been about twenty minutes since school ended and Jacob hasn't shown up yet. What was he up to? Maybe he just wanted me off his back and was messing with me. What if this was all a trick, just some PTSD crap messing with my head. "Hey!" AAAH! "You startled me! Where have you been?" I questioned. " Just checking with the boss to see if it was ok to bring you in." The boss? What the heck is going on here? Jacob offered his hand to help me up. I accepted and dusted myself off as he started to explain. "Ok, so don't be nervous, he's really nice. he will explain to you our situation and why you can talk to animals." "Hey Jacob?" I stop walking and look him dead in the eyes. "What are your powers?" He opens his mouth like he is going to say something, but then closes it and walks toward his car, motioning me over. "I'll show you when we get there." He replied with a scowl.

We arrive at a gray building with a giant "S" on the front and pull into the garage around back. I hop out and wait for Jacob to show the way. He opens the door and leads me through a lab, where I see a girl with gills in a tank, unconscious. "Jacob, is she ok?" I ask and point at the girl. "She's fine, just in a coma. We just found her last week, washed up on the shore. She was barely breathing." He said without a glance at her. We kept walking through the building, through a training area, over a little tranquility pond, and by a debriefing room. A tall man with Dark hair was working at a desk. "Hanna, meet Mr. S."
