"Shuttle number 268, you are off course due to unforeseen weather conditions. Proceed with landing protocol as usual. We will arrive within 3 hours to assist you."
"Roger."
Oikawa had driven to a large plain. It had become his safe place of sorts over the last few years of his college. He would often go there when there was something bothering him that he wanted to think out. In this case, it was because he had been pulled from games until his knee healed again. He had overworked it a few weeks prior and injured it again.
He sighed as he leaned against his car. His phone buzzed. Oikawa didn't even bother to check as it was probably from Iwaizumi saying something like 'hurry the fuck back exams are coming.'
He looked up at the sky and wondered if aliens were looking down on him right now and laughing at how pathetic he was. As he glared at the sky, something caught his eye. Some sort of spacecraft was flying down. It couldn't have been a human rocket. After all, he always stayed up to date with anything space related, including when and where rockets were supposed to land. He had heard nothing about anything happening here.
He watched awestruck as the shuttle landed half a mile away. He quickly ran over to the spacecraft.
Holy shit! They're here! He mentally screamed at himself. Just as he stopped before the shuttle, a top hatch opened. He stared in anticipation for a few seconds before something finally came out. It was a figure that seemed to be... a woman?
'So they're not aliens? Then why are they here?' He wondered to himself. The woman finally became clear. A tight black tank top clung to her well formed figure, as a baggy white suit covered her legs, the top half tied off at her waist. Her brown hair was tied up in a messy bun and being held between her arm and side, was a large black and white circular helmet.
She looked around trying to figure out where they were. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a dumbfounded brunet looking up at her. An evil smirk tugged at her lips as a malicious glint shone in her piercing blue eyes.
"Heeeh? So this is what earth looks like?" She chided, hoping to get a reaction out of him. Much to her satisfaction, it worked. His face paled as thoughts raced through his mind.
A shapeshifter!? Don't get him wrong. It had always been Oikawa's dream to meet an alien, but this one seemed like trouble, and he kind of wanted to live to see the next day. He slowly moved back, stepping on a dry branch in the process. How a dry twig had found itself in the vast flat lands and conveniently placed right behind his foot, he had no idea. What he did know, though, was that it heard him. It slowly turned it's head, revealing a horrifying wide smile.
"Another human? I wonder if it'll taste as good as the last." She said loud enough for him to hear. She turned her body to face his, and started moving towards him, still on the top of the shuttle. All of the sudden, a karate chop landed itself on the top of her head.
"Cut it out, Akira. You're scaring the dude." A low gruff voice muttered from besides her. The voice belonged to a tall, buff looking blond dude. She looked up at him in annoyance.
"Tch. You're no fun." She complained as she clicked her tongue. The man looked at Oikawa and bowed his head slightly in apology. For some reason, Oikawa was being especially dumb, and hadn't figured out that the people in front of him were, in fact, human. It might have been because he himself wanted to believe that he had met aliens. Regardless of the reason, he still hadn't managed to put two and two together. Although, he had concluded that they had no intention of hurting him, so he relaxed a bit.
Suddenly, the woman jumped off the craft, rolling to absorb the shock. He had expected her to shoot up again, but she didn't. She just laid there.
Another voice boomed from the shuttle
"AKIRA!" A shorter man with tanned skin and short black hair popped up from the top of the shuttle. "Stop being so damn reckless! You're gonna bust your shit!" He shouted at her.
"My bad, Captain." She said nonchalantly with a careless wave. The man sighed before looking around.
"Seriously, where even are we?" Oikawa finally spoke up. If they were after his life, he'd already be dead. So why not make friends with them?
"You're on Earth. Miyagi Prefecture in Japan to be more specific." Everyone turned to him. Akira had sat up and another woman had emerged from the large hunk of metal.
"Who's he?" The Captain asked pointing at Oikawa. Akira shrugged.
"Beats me. He was already here when I came up." The girl tried to stand, but realized her muscles were still getting used to the sudden presence of gravity. The others seemed fine as they had been on many more missions than she had.
"Yo! Random guy!" She called. Oikawa turned. "Come here quick!" He complied and walked over. She held her hand out when he got close. Getting the message, he grabbed onto her hand and pulled her up. She stumbled a bit before using him to steady herself. She mumbled a 'thanks' to which he just nodded his head. By now, the other three had started climbing off the shuttle.
The shorter man approached him.
"Sorry about her." He said as he nodded his head in the direction of the brunette. He held his hand out if front of Oikawa. "The name's Leonardo Ortega. Leo for short." Oikawa shook his hand and looked at them partly confused. Somehow, he managed to miss the rather large red, white and blue logo plastered on the shuttle.
"Oikawa Tooru, but... who are you guys?" The blue eyes girl standing next to him started laughing hysterically.
"Holy shit!" She managed to get out between laughs. "This guy might actually be an idiot." And irk mark appeared on Oikawa's forehead.
"Shut up!" Leo barked. "I don't want to hear that from the person who jumped some 20 feet onto the ground after not having experienced gravity for half a year! I get that it's only your third mission but god! You should know better!" The girl let out a 'geh' sound before noticing Oikawa's expression change. Finally, it had clicked.
"A- are you?" His words can out as a jumbled mess.
Slowly, she walked from her place next to him. She stopped in front of her teammates, each of them with a smirk and air of confidence around them.
"That's right." She brought her thumb to her chest as she looked him straight in the eyes. The symbol printed on the shuttle now seemed to grow bigger and tower over him like a titan, the red, white and blue coming together perfectly.
"We are NASA."
