They arrived at the palace in the middle of the evening, the sun just starting to dip behind the horizon as they landed.
As they entered one of the guards stopped Jake and yelled to Commander Byrd.
"I think this kid was trying to sneak in with you!" everyone stopped and turned, looking at the guard as if he had just told them the sky was orange and the ground was blue.
"He's with us." Max sneered his eyes narrowing. Finn and Noah folded their arms. Jake's face turned a deep red.
Sierra knew he hated when the rest of the team had to defend him. She knew he knew he looked younger and that he was younger, but he was just strong as her, and just as good at tactical thinking like Noah, or just as witty as Max.Sierra stepped forward and looked the guard up and down struggling her shoulders.
"I bet this kid, could kill you with ease. See he doesn't need a big gun to prove he's got equally as big nads, people can tell when they look at him. I don't know about you ." She sneered, Noah and Finn snickering in the background.
The guards mouth turned into an angry frown.
"Why I oughta teach you a lesson bitch." He sneered, grabbing her upper arm tightly."Get your hands of her mother fu-" Noah started.
"Come on." Commander Byrd ordered. The guard narrowed his eyes angrily. Dropping her arm he turned back to his post, quietly cursing her out.
"Come on Sier." Noah hissed, fighting the urge to curb stomp the guard. Sierra turned and headed towards the entrance, Noah catching up to her quickly and smiling, his cute dimples making Sierra grin.
"Those dimples get me every time." She smiled, poking one of them gently.
"Goddamnit Sierra!" He cursed under his breath.
"What?" She asked, confused as to what she had done.
"You're making me feel like a normal boy with a normal best friend." He laughed, throwing his arm around Sierra playfully.
"Damn feeling normal." Sierra sighed. Things were so far from normal, even though they had a crazy life that was so far from normal, being not able to tell her team, her family, something was horribly wrong, felt so painstakingly un-normal. They were in danger, but she couldn't tell them.
She imagined how they would react if they found out.Jake would be disgusted at all the times he admired her, Finn becoming sick at the fact he had let her give him piggy back rides when he was upset. Max peeling back at every time he had felt something for her, and Noah, oh Noah, he would wash his skin forever, being disgusted at all the times he had put his arm around her or kissed her cheek.
She winced at the thought of her family leaving her. It would never happen, they would never find out what she was.
"Sier, what's wrong?" Noah asked, clearly noticing her wincing and deep thought.
"Nothing, I'm just groggy and tired from jet lag, that's all." She smiled.
She was in fact groggy and tired from jet lag and the reason they weren't being rushed is that Commander Byrd knew if they were pushed to hard they might just kill someone, or a lot of someone's.Once they were in the palace they headed for a large room with a huge fireplace and gold walls.
There were paintings everywhere, each depicting a different event in all of human history, from the first anthropoid ape evolving human characteristics to the Great War. Even though Sierra had a certain, distaste, for the royal family, she could tell they valued their history and science as much as any person.
