Sierra watched the tv as she sat down in the soft couch of the den.
The bright colors blasting from the TV danced in front of her eyes and showed images of the royal family leaving and entering the castle.
The prince wore flashy clothes that were made of the most expensive cloth in all of the Imperial Kingdoms, no doubt he got them from the poorer parts of the kingdoms.
The rich were weird like that, always taking from the people they won't even look at.
It angered Sierra that people were treated badly because of their social class, she knew what is was like to be poor, and she knew it also meant you would do anything for anyone. Being poor meant you grew up in the hardest conditions but we're still kind and fair, two traits she held dear.
Now, growing up under the wing of the 7 kingdoms most respected commander didn't exactly mean you were dirt poor, it meant the exact opposite really.
But Sierra came from rags, from a war torn kingdom with nothing but violence and death. A poor kingdom that used to thrive. She saw how fast a whole kingdom can go from rags to riches, if a kingdom could go that fast, imagine how little time it would take for one human to lose everything. She appreciated the little things in life better than most.
A loud siren blaring from the TV snapped her out of her train of thought, bringing her back to the crowded scene of the prince walking to the royal carriage, people screamed and cheered, hands reaching out to touch the handsome prince, maybe even get an autograph.
Yet the prince paid no attention, looking quite bored as he passed the hordes of raging pubescent hormones that screamed and fainted at him.
Sierra sighed as officers surrounded him even though no one would dare attack a member of the Royal Family, much less the prince. Not even the second best trained would dare, and the best worked for them. She laughed as they hurried him into the carriage.
It was amazing to Sierra that someone who knew they would not be killed no matter what, would still have a protective detail. Thousands of years ago you only got a protective detail if you had a death threat. And the even more amazing thing to Sierra was the fact she couldn't understand why he did, and she understood everything.
Sure the simple answer would be he wants to look cool or edgy but, why did he really do it? It frustrated her that she couldn't understand, because, she understood everything. Sure she wasn't a math wiz or a science genius but she understood people, she knew exactly what they were feeling and sometimes even thinking. She could even more easily manipulate what they were thinking or feeling. It was her gift. A gift she rarely used, but when she did, it was powerful and scarily accurate. After all, super powers don't exist.
She was so lost in thought that she didn't even suspected someone had walked into the room until she heard a low, breathtaking laugh.
She turned to see Max, his green eyes smirking down at her. His characteristic grin was plastered on his face which meant he was about to tease her. Oh boy."Whatcha doing? Watching your crush or something?" he challenged.Sierra turned around and rolled her eyes.
Of course Max would say something like that. He was a jokester. Not as much of a jokester as his younger brother Jake, but not far off. And of course his younger brother Jake wasn't as nearly attractive as Max was.
With his perfect upside down triangle shape and bulging chest muscles that showed under any shirt big or small, women would stop and stare at him when he went by. But it wasn't like his body was the only thing attractive about him. He had almond shaped perfectly green eyes, going along with his angel like lips that peeled up in the perfect way when he grinned. Freckles dotted his nose and cheekbones, making him seem even more doll like. His broad nose and thick eyebrows added a more manly touch to him. His dusty brown hair was ruffled and stuck out in places, giving him and untamed and wild look.
He was a living doll. But the same thing could be said about Sierra.
