No, I never said
goodbyeAnd she's just a
memory
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧THE SADNESS DRAINED THROUGH ALLY rather than skating over her skin. It travelled through every cell in her body to reach the ground.
"It's gonna be okay, J... It's gonna be okay." She murmered into his hair.
Her lips alight on his forehead like a dew freckled petal caught in a breeze, so soft and with the smallest hint of coolness.
"It's okay." Curled beside him on the small couch she repeated the phrase like a mantra. Disregarding the ache and discontent that surrounded them.
The siren jolted her out of her daydream. Ally's heart jumped into her throat as her brain registered the meaning of the jarring racket.
The shouts of the medics followed after the pounding on the door.
"What'd she take?" They asked, as they entered the small apartment.
"Heroine." J murmured.
The hooded vale of death had hung over the world for a long time, always threatening. It had never touched J Cody quite so close.
However, now J would sit staring for hours. His face sunken and haunted, mind cold and empty.
Later that day, the lead from his pencil scribbled across the sheet of white. The water from the tap cleansed the bowl. He was void. But Ally made it better. She was that listening ear, the one who would wrap him in her love just with her soft face and kind words.
"You're gonna get through this J. Okay, I promise you." She whispered not wanting to break the atmosphere of tranquility as they lay together. Souls and bodies intertwined.
"Thank you." His whispered.
"Thank you for not leaving me."
In that simple moment he wrapped his arms around her and Ally let her head rest upon his chest. All her thoughts stopped as if her heart took over from her head, every time they were close. Next J would squeeze as if he needed to check she was really there with him, really there and really real... and she was, body and soul.
She always would be.
Later that day the silence caressed her skin like a cool summer breeze, smoothing her soul, taking away her jagged edges. It had been one hell of a rough day.
"It-it's J." Josh spoke into the phone, breaking the quietness that had settled.
She could hear the hazy voice of J's grandmother reply to his statement.
"Uh Josh." He said, and Ally took notice of how perturbed he seemed.
"Yeah I'm good. Mum OD'd. She died. Do you know where we live?" He questioned.
"Em...I was wondering, if I could bring a friend to stay too?"
The tension that had kept him up for twelve hours straight melted into nothing.
"Thanks." He laughed but it was more of a sigh releasing the anxiety and fear from his mind.
Death had already ripped away a part of Ally, the part of her that was most loved. After the death of her mum she was heartbroken. The only family she had left due to the abandonment of her father, had left her.
Left her with nothing. No family. No income. J refused to leave her. This of course lead to J insisting she lived with him, which she had been doing for a year and a half now.
Watching his eyes glaze with unleashed tears she saw him give her a watery smile. And it was the bravest thing she had ever seen.
So she embraced him.
"Right now, everything may seem overwhelming and impossible, but take a deep breath and know that you will get through this. Maybe not over it, but definitely through it...and it will make you stronger, I promise." Her voice cracked as she whispered the words into his neck.
She felt the coldness. The dripping of the tears that trickled down his cheeks and landed softly on her neck.
His body convulsed as the sobs overtook.
J snuggled in, "You're the only person I know that gives indefinite hugs." he laughed through the tears.
Ally snickered, "Well, where else would I rather be?"
In that moment J's arms squeezed a fraction tighter and she breathed more slowly, her body melting into her lovers as every muscle lost its tension to the summer air of Oceanside.
