THE MORNING WAS AS ASSURED AS THE TIDES and just as unstoppable. Ally knew she needed a few more hours of blackness. Not to sleep, but to prepare, to pour her thoughts out onto a page, reorganize, prioritize and pack them back in again.
"Wow. I sure would step over you if I saw you in the gutter. Hope that means you slept well. How about those sheets, huh?" The voice of Smurf spoke, her energy too high for Ally and J.
"500 thread count," Baz rolled his eyes, "just tell her you noticed."
J spoke on behalf of his girlfriend and himself "Uh, they were great. Thank you."
"Only the best for my boys," However there was a brief moment of silence, excluding the sound of the blending machine, where Smurfs gaze flickered to Ally, "and my girl."
"Uh could we just have some coffee please?" The awkwardness both teens felt did not dissipate.
"Right there, in the pot."
"Hey! What did I say? What the hell did I say of that woke me up again!?" Anger boiled deep within Craig's system, as hot as lava. It churned within, hungry for destruction, and Ally knew herself, it was too much for him to handle.
However, as he made himself apparent in the kitchen she was suddenly brought closer to J by the gentle grip of her waist, she was brought in front of him. Standing between his legs her back resting against his chest as they drank their coffee. As much as Ally reassured J that she would never feel the desire to be with someone else, it didn't make his insecurities disappear.
"Just do it already man. Just do it." Both Deran and Baz began to tease him.
"Yeah? Where is that hammer!? Where is that hammer!? Huh!?"
Slamming cupboards and banging drawers, his search for the hammer seemed to never end.
"Can't you just smash it in the floor?"
"O you don't think I can do it? I'll do it!" He raged once again.
"Do it, you bought it."
"No I didn't!"
"Yeah, actually, you did. You always forget my birthday. I bought it for you and I gave it to me. I wrapped it up really nice and I loved it, baby. I still love it."
Smurf pouted, "Gimme a kiss."
As they kissed Ally had to bury her head into J's chest to stifle her giggles from his facial expression.
"Will your friends be joining us for breakfast?"
Glancing over at Craigs face, the couple noticed him still smoldering underneath his stony expression.
"I sure as hell hope not."
"No bacon and eggs?" Smurf directed her attention back to the teenagers.
"You know, we should probably get t-to school."
"You can't go to school on an empty stomach." She once again persisted.
"That's fine. We'll grab something on the way."
"You mum just died man. That's a free pass." All eyes on the room fell on Baz and silence eloped the room.
Smurf spoke, "Yeah there's a six foot left at San Onofre. Isn't that right Craig?"
"Yeah. You should come man, you should come."
"You guys surf?"
"I get by. Allys pretty good though. You going to?" J wondered, looking back at Baz.
"Nah, I stayed the night. Gonna go back, check on my kid." Ally stared into those bright blue eyes burning with surprise.
"Aw, give my love to Catherine and the baby." Smurf spoke warmly, however their was a tone to her voice and Ally knew she was implying something else.
