"Vale, can you please just go? There's no harm at trying right?"

"Okay, I'll go." I huffed. My two best friends shrieked in delight as they jumped around frantically. I really don't see the big deal of shopping this early for a prom dress. Prom is not until in three months time! But you gotta do what you gotta do for your friends, am I right?

The last bell screeched, signalling students to gather to their next lessons. Me, Lily and Nicolette have the same classes every Thursday afternoon, and it's English Lit. The second boring after Maths.

"Hey, did you know Mrs. Hollinder quit the job yesterday?" Lily whispers. My eyebrows raise, "Really? Does that mean we get a new teacher?" I asked. "Geez, Vale. What has Mrs Hollinder ever done to you for you to disrespect her like that?" Lily asks. My eyes narrowed at her, "Says the girl who flipped off Mr Hemmings at Maths and swore in front of him." Lily groans.

According to Lily, he was so annoying and rude. But in reality, she's just crushing on him so hard that she knew that she has no chance with him and the fact that she got called out in front of the class that day.

We entered our classroom and was surprised that the new teacher wasn't in yet. We walked towards our usual desk and continue to chatter. "I hope he or she is not mean or something," Lily begins to say as we all settled down. "Well, who knows?" I murmured, taking the good ol' Jekyll and Hyde novel and my notes out of my bag and placing them in front of me. "Aren't we done with Jekyll and Hyde?" Nicolette whispers. I shrugged my shoulders, not bothered at all. Besides, whoever the new teacher is would've given me a chance to go to the library and borrow one.

Fifteen minutes have passed and the room was loud with chatters, screaming and people throwing crumpled papers at each other. Out of nowhere, when the door creaked open, the whole class fell extremely silent.

All our eyes focused on the person who's by the door.

His dirty blond hair was tousled, wearing a light pink shirt with navy blue trousers and blazer. His hazel eyes scanned across the room and his mouth broke into a cheeky smile, marking a dimple on each side.

He strode in the room. The class is still silent. But it left me wondering, why the hell is there a god-sent human being in this school? Shouldn't he be in a male catalogue or something?

"Vale, close your mouth or you'll catch flies." I hear Nicolette murmur. I immediately close my mouth as I gulp. "Good afternoon everyone! My name's Mr Irwin and I'll be your substitute English teacher," he introduces. Out of the blue, Chloe rose her hand. "Yes?" He asks.

"Are you going to be permanently teaching us?" She asks, with a hint of tease in her voice. I rolled my eyes, turning my attention back to Mr Irwin. Jesus Christ, why does she have to go under the desk on every other hot male teacher? She's so desperate. I scoff silently under my breath.

Mr Irwin's smile widens, "we will see about that. Okay, I'll go through the register quickly so we can start our new topic."

He sits down on his chair and opens the computer. After a while, he starts calling out names. It didn't take long before he called out mine, "Carli, Valentine?" He looks up and scans the crowd to check, I coughed to get his attention whilst I raise my hand. "It's Valentine as in Palestine, sir."

"What a pretty name. Are you French?" He asks, his attention diverting back to his computer. My cheeks grew hot. "Uh... No sir." I answered, clearing my throat. He looks up and smiles, then proceeds to do the register.

As usual, English was still boring despite the new teacher and all. But it made it even harder for me, his luscious locks bouncing whenever he moves, or the way he brushes them out of his eyes. The way he leans slightly on his desk, the way he licks his lips and goddamn, that ass.

The bell rings, a signal that the day is over. "Make sure to do the homework, kids! It's due on Monday!" He says, erasing the writings on the board. We started packing up, and I'm gonna be honest with you, never in my life have I felt the want to just stay in this classroom.

But of course, I can't do that. So I wouldn't. I expected myself to pack slowly, so my eyes could still linger on his. Surprisingly, I was frantically packing my things up, only to make my things fall on the floor. "Jesus Vale, are you okay?" Lily asks, picking up the notes that have slipped to the floor. "Uh-huh," I replied, grabbing the notes from her. "Vale—," "Let's talk outside." I interrupted, as I dashed out of the room.

"What the hell has gotten into you, Vale?" Lily catches up. "I just needed to— uh— catch a breath. That room is suffocating me." I answered. "More like Mr Irwin is suffocating you." Nicolette chirps in. I shook my head, "God that sounds wrong in so many ways." I muttered. Are you sure though, Valentine?

It's wrong but I know you'd dream about it later.

I sighed. "I'm tired, I'll see you guys tomorrow," I said and left without looking back.
