Chapter 13- On the run

Maddie wakes up in the motel. Belle wakes up too.

Maddie: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you...

Belle: So, it wasn't a nightmare...

Maddie: No... No, it wasn't a nightmare...

Maddie asks Belle to take a bath.

Maddie: How about a nice, warm bath? And then we can go out and try to get you something to eat. What do you say?

Maddie: Okay. I'll run you a bath.

Belle: You're pretty like that. You really look like a human now.

Maddie: Your bath's ready.

Maddie watches the TV.

Channel 16 - Joss Douglas: Thanks, Michael. I'm joined by Cleveland resident Josh Shady, who was violently attacked by his AX400 around 11 PM last night. Josh, can you tell us what happened?

Josh: I was having dinner, I was minding my own business. Damn thing jumped on me. Managed to defend myself, but it went crazy. I thought it was gonna kill me... So I fought it off, but it ran away.

Channel 16 - Joss Douglas: Thank you, Josh. Disturbing news for android owners everywhere. Police have launched a search to find the android. Let's hope they find it fast.

Belle: It's not true... He's lying... He's the one who tried to hurt us...

Belle: What are we gonna do? We have nowhere to go... And the police are looking for us now.

Maddie asks Belle if she has any other family.

Maddie: Do you have any family? Anyone who could help us?

Belle: No...there was just dad.

Maddie tells Belle that they have to move.

Maddie: I know I'm just a... a machine... But, I feel as if something ties us together... I want you to know, no matter what happens... nothing will ever separate us. Finish getting ready. I'll go out and find some food for you, then we can get going.

The police are at the motel. They are looking for Maddie and Belle.

Mark: Lieutenant and Detective Fischbach, Newark Police. We're looking for a female android, robbed a store down the road last night. You see anything?

Receptionist: An android? No... I don't take androids here.

Sean: Have you see anyone that looks like this?

Receptionist: Fuck... I knew there was something weird about her... She came in last night - she was dressed normal, you know... There was no way I could tell.

Y/N: Is it still here?

Receptionist: Yeah, probably. Room 28.

Mark: Thank you.

Y/N: Franklin?.. Yeah, it's still at the motel. Send some uniforms and cordon off the area. We're heading to its room now.

Mark: You wait in the car.

Sean tries to be rational with Mark and Y/N.

Sean: You 2 are going to need me, Lieutenant and Detective. I know more about androids than you 2 do.

Y/N: Listen, we're tired of you talkin' back to us. You're a machine, so the fuck up and do what we say!

Sean: All I want is to accomplish my mission. I'm sorry if that upsets you 2.

Mark: Wanna see the end of your mission? Stop busting our fucking balls...

Sean, Y/N, and Mark go into Maddie's room.

Mark: It's gone...

Maddie gets spotted by the police.

Cop: Shit, that's them! STOP! POLICE!

Cop: Quick, call it in!

Cop: Holy fuck, that's them! HEY, STOP! POLICE!

Cop: Hey, wait a minute!

Sean chases after Maddie and Belle.

Sean: Which way did it go?

Cop: That way - they're headed for the train station!

Cop: They're over there!

Sean reaches the fence. Maddie and Belle have already climbed over.

Sean: Don't shoot! We need it alive!

Y/N: Oh fuck, that's insane...

Mark: Hey! Where you goin'?

Sean: I can't let them get away.

Y/N: They won't! They'll never make it to the other side.

Sean: I can't take that chance.

Mark: Hey, you will get yourself killed! Do NOT go after 'em, Sean, that's an order!

Sean climbs the fence anyway.

Y/N: Sean, goddammit!

Maddie ends up escaping and Sean survives.

Sean: Shit...

Maddie and Belle get on the bus and get away.

Maddie: Are you okay?

Belle hugs Maddie and Maddie hugs back.
