Once back in the capital, I slowed down to a normal walking speed. If I was correct, this universe had newspapers, which I found odd, because in my world, medieval countries didn't have newspapers. Then again, this universe seemed more like a medieval society which is also modern in some ways, such as the hierarchy, the schools and orphanages, and the press. It was very peculiar. I found it weird because it was not how I would run a country. I would pretend to have those qualities, when in reality, it had nothing of the sort (,except maybe for the hierarchy). My country would be something akin to 1984's London, and I would run away from it as fast as earthly possible.

The first thing I did when I got somewhere that didn't have too much crime going on in the area, I found a newspaper stand and sweet-talked the salesman into giving me the newspaper for free. I did abuse Chaos a little bit in doing so, but not too much. Just a few jabs here and there and a few statements about the world in general, and the newspaper was mine.

On the front page was written: "Hero Lucia defeats the Demon Lord!". It was written in big, bold letters. There were no pictures anywhere in the 4 page long newspaper the size of a medium sized book. It was small, yes, but the lack of any technology prevented any form of pictures, aside from a comical piece of art on the second page. I read the entire thing. There were a few references to other countries in the human empire, which told me that the humans were divided. That would make it easier to destroy them. Then again, I no longer had much motivation to kill them. Everything dies anyway... but I digress. It also said that from the current mutations, the new Demon Lord seemed to be a succubus. No wonder...

That last piece of information was most likely the reason for the hell portal with succubi around it. They were probably trying to take over this part of the planet. I giggled at the thought. A single, united planet is just as easy to destroy as a divided one. Just make the ruler(s) rule badly, which they usually do anyway, and eventually they kill themselves.

Since this new Demon Lord was a succubus, I came to the assumption that the new monsters dotted around the land would now have feminine qualities, would live of secretions from human men, and would transform any human women into more monsters by f*cking them. That was my understanding of how succubi worked, so that was my deduction. From that same information (, and from the previous inference), I presumed that the tactics she would use would be seduction, manipulation, and plain trickery. Interesting, but easy to see through if one knew what one was looking for. Now for her motivations, they would either be world peace, as in to make all monsters and humans live happily ever after, or they would be total annihilation, as in she wanted to destroy humanity, and maybe even the undead.

Then, when I read the article holding the information that the demons had annexed the undead, the last part fell apart. She most likely wanted to forcefully impose world peace. I read that the undead were starting to become more like succubi, as in they became more feminine, and would likely be not dissimilar from the monsters. It seemed like it was 2 thirds of the world against humanity. I grinned. I no longer cared what happened in this universe, or any universe, since there are an infinite number of universes, and there must be at least one that has a happy ever after. At this point, I only laughed with pure mirth at the ridiculousness and futility of this planet's inhabitants, just as the Jovians would have in the sequel to the "War of the Worlds", "The Massacre of Mankind".

I had nothing more to look at. The rest of the newspaper was simple advertisements by different shops around the city, trying desperately to catch the eye with big, colourful letters that shouted visually at the optical senses. It closed the newspaper and gave it back to the salesperson, who took it back gladly. I didn't want to take advantage of my knowledge of Chaos too much, now, did I?
