When they reached the hospital, that's when Ji Ah started truly feeling the pain, as if it had finally registered. Yixing ran inside, calling for help.
Nurses rushed outside, carrying both Ji Ah and Sehun in on a stretcher. They were both taken to the ER, where operations began immediately. He tried to follow Sehun, but the doctors closed the doors in front of him, and a nurse kindly directed him back to the waiting room.
Then came the point in time Yixing dreaded, police questioning. When someone gets shot, police also have to investigate, because getting shot isn't normally an accidental wound, especially with a restaurant full of witnesses and a bunch of 119 calls. So, around thirty minutes after they arrived, police officers showed up.
The only positive thing Yixing could find was that neither he nor Sehun had been connected to the gang by press or officers yet, meaning he had better lies to tell.
Two policemen approached him, pulling out their notepads.
"Sir, can you tell us what happened to your friends?" One asked.
"Uh- yes," Yixing stammered, trying to act scared and shocked. "We... we were at the White Lotus, eating dinner, and then, from the second floor, we heard shots. My friend was up there, so I rushed up there, and I found him shot. My girlfriend," Yixing said, looking over to Ji Ah's hospital room, "ran up too to find me. She-" Yixing paused for dramatic effect and let the 'tears' fall down his face. "She got hit. And then, he was going over to finish the job. To- to kill her. So, I tackled him. And then we just ran. A friend of ours-" Yixing hesitated. He was unsure if he wanted to drag Chanyeol into this. However, this had to be as close to the truth as possible. "A friend of ours picked us up. We called him when the shooting started and he rushed over."
The policemen nodded and scratched things down on their notepads. "Your name? And we'll need a formal statement from you signed at the station, and we'll need one from your girlfriend and your friend when they're out of surgery. Can you come with us?" They asked. Yixing knew, however, that the question was more of a pleasantry than an actual choice.
"Ahn Min-Hyuck," he replied, coming up with some fake name.
He scanned the room, realizing what could happen if he left. He didn't have any fake credentials on him right now, so this could expose the whole operation.
"Listen officers, I really need to be here. My best friend and my girlfriend were shot by some, some criminals! I can't leave them here. Especially if- if he doesn't wake up." Yixing pleaded, looking the officers directly in the eye. They seemed to buy his watered down plea.
"We'll come back later with the official statement," said one, putting his pen and pad away. "When is your friend's surgery finished?"
Yixing turned to the nurse, asking the same question.
"Because he's in critical condition, and undergoing damage control surgery, this should take around 24 hours. The girl, however, should be done in a few hours. They can both be released about 7 days following surgery."
The officers, satisfied with their answers, turned around and left. They both had many more witnesses to interview.
Yixing took out his phone and texted Junmyeon, pretty positive he was going to get yelled at.
Me
Hey Junmyeon... what do we do? Sehun and Ji Ah were injured in a fight at dinner. Sehun's in critical condition. Sehun, Ji Ah and I will have to appear in court as witnesses if this goes any further.Junmyeon
Why do things always go wrong with Sehun in charge?Junmyeon
I'll be back tomorrow by midnight. We'll discuss plans then. However, I think it's best that we stay out of the courtroom. Get Chanyeol and Ji Ah out of the hospital ASAP.
