Gavin
"NO" echoed through Gray's bedroom. "YOU JUST KILLED ME" I screamed louder. All Gray did was laugh.I shoved Gray knocking him off the couch and onto the floor. When he got up he looked at me with an evil smirk. Crap.
I threw the Xbox controller onto the sofa and dashed out into the hallway. I heard Gray calling my name but I stayed quiet. After a couple minutes of silence I step out of the closet and tip toe towards the stairs.
I don't see him anywhere that's good. I let out a sigh of relief. I start to turn around but before I can I am tackled and we crash down the stairs. Once we reach the bottom of the stairs laughter fills the room.
We are pulled out of our laughter when Gray's Mom clears her throat. "Now boys" she scolds. "It is not the time to be running amuck, I just put Sammy to bed and if you bafoons wake him up there will be hell to pay. Now get ready for bed, you have school tomorrow."
We nodded and walked back to Gray's room, giggles escaping our lips.
He pulls clothes out of his dresser and tosses them to me. "Shower". I stand up and walk into the bathroom. As the water heats up I realize that I haven't been this happy in six years. The past two days have been amazing.
I step into the shower letting the hot water beat down on my back. I don't realize how long I have been in the shower until there is a knock on the door "Gavin, are you okay in there?" Gray continues to pound on the door.
"Yea, sorry" I mumble and turn off the water.
Stepping out of the bathroom I see Gray sitting on his bed watching television, but once he notices me that damn concern washes over his face. He doesn't say anything, he just stands up and walks into the bathroom.
Who the hell watches baking shows? I walk over to his bed changing channels until I finally find something that interests me Iron Man. I am a sucker for Robert Downey Jr.
The bathroom door clicks shut but I don't look over too focused on the tv. A second later Gray steps around to the right side of the bed sitting down next to me. "Iron Man?" he questions.
"Yes. Only the best avenger ever" I state a little too enthusiastic. That makes him chuckle.
"No way man. Captain America is by far the best avenger!"
"He is a close second" I say finally turning to look at Gray who is already looking at me.
My heart fluttered and before I knew what I was doing, I finished the kiss that Gray started yesterday. "Sorry, I-I shouldn't have done that" I stutter.
"Don't apologize."
I lay back on the bed placing my palms on my face. My fathers words repeating over and over again in my head. No one loves a fag. I can feel the tears burning down my cheeks.
"Gavin" he whispers before pulling me into a hug. "We should get some sleep" I groan, returning Gray's embrace.
"Boys, wake up. Time for school" Jessica flicks on the bedroom light making us both grumble.
I open my eyes only to realize Gray and I are still hugging. I feel the heat creeping onto my face as I slowly pull away. "Stop" Gray mumbles.
"Grayson Issac Briar get out of bed now. Breakfast is on the table" Jessica scolds, which makes Gray practically jump out of bed. Earning a chuckle from both his mom and I.
"Have a nice day boys, Gray don't kill Gavin. Drive safe" we wave goodbye and hop in the car. The radio is on blasting Panic! at the Disco.
I reach to turn the volume down once we arrive at school but his hand stops me. "Stop. Now I don't know what is going to happen today but don't let anyone bring you down. You deserve the world, so don't let anyone make you think otherwise."
We sit in silence for a few moments before we step out of the car. The day goes by pretty quick but before I know it, it's time for lunch. I stand up and walk out of the cafeteria heading for the bathroom. Once I reach the stalls I am yanked back and kicked in the ribs.
"Jayson" I groan as a fist collided with my face.
The door slams open and Gray steps in. Oh shit.
Jayson is caught off guard by his sudden appearance but quickly gains back his composure. "What are you doing here? Saving your wimpy boy-toy from an ass beating?" Gray throws a punch but Jayson catches it. I try to get up but Tyler slams me to the ground, knocking the wind out of me.
The last thing I remember is Gray screaming.
My head feels drowsy and I can hear a slight beeping noise. Where the hell am I? My eyes flutter open taking in the surroundings of the bland hospital room. "Where is Gray?" I ask making the doctor jump.
"I didn't realize you were awake" he stated plainly.
"Well I am now where is Gray" my voice rises.
"Mr. Bishop, please calm down there is no need to raise your voice."
"Just tell me if he is okay" I stare blankly at the doctor waiting for a response.
I can already see the answer on his face before he says anything. I can feel the tears pooling in my eyes, "How bad is he?"
"Gavin" Jessica cries from my doorway. "Can he come with me?"
"Ma'am, I am going to have to ask you to step out of the room. I am talking to the patient. After I am done he can be discharged."
"No, I don't want to finish talking to you. I am fine, go get a nurse to unhook me from all these machines" surprise isn't a good look for this doctor. He nods slowly and leaves the room.
Jessica walks over to me giving me a motherly hug. "He is in surgery" she sobs into my shoulder. The tears that were pooled in my eyes are finally streaming down my face.
"Gavin, sweetie. It was an accident" my mother comforted me as they rushed Alex into the emergency room.
Tears fell from my Aunt's eyes as they rushed him into emergency surgery. She walked over to my mom and I and pulled us into a group hug.
Around an hour later the doctor came out saying that Alex was out of surgery and will be back to himself within two weeks. "Thank God" my aunt mumbled. We all stood up and started to walk to his room.
"Gavin" my back stiffened as my father's voice boomed through the waiting room. What is he doing here? My mother told me it was okay, he is just here to bring me home because it is getting late. I watch as my mom and aunt follow the doctor down the hallway.
Once we reach the car my father let's go of my arm and begins to yell "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! WHEREVER YOU GO PEOPLE GET HURT. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU AND ASHAMED TO CALL YOU MY SON. HE COULD HAVE DIED TODAY AND YOU DON'T EVEN SEEM TO CARE."
I sobbed into my sleeve "I do too care." I hiccuped and then a burning sensation spread throughout my face.
"That was for lying to my face boy. Now get in the car before you get another one" I stumbled into the car sobbing quietly in the back seat.
"Gavin" I jumped feeling my face.
The nurse looked at me saying that I could leave now. I stood up and ran as fast as I could out of the hospital. Jessica called after me but I couldn't bring myself to turn around.
I finally reached the shed I slid open the door and curled up on the couch. Rivers flowing down my cheeks. My father was right people around me always get hurt. I pulled out a cigarette not realizing how badly I was craving one. I took a puff and then held it to my wrist.
"37 days."
