"She looked me straight in the eyes, waiting patiently for my answer."

Amelia's POV
Friday, 11:23 PM.

I was wide awake and my body was shaking vigorously. I could tell from the utter silence that the men in the car had eventually fallen asleep. I looked out the small window and realised it was dark outside and probably around midnight. The whole ride they were talking loudly and blasting music, and now it was completely silent. Still, I couldn't get any peace. My mind was racing from the thoughts of possible outcomes of this.

I had been tapping my foot against the truck wall for a while because I had to use the bathroom. As inelegant as it sounds, I felt like I was on the verge of peeing myself. The whole ride was a displeasure. I was exhausted and nauseated, and most of all, I was terrified. All I smelled was cigarettes and beer. That made me even more scared for my own life, if the driver was drunk, I sure would have been dead by now.

I still haven't been able to sleep. Not that I would want to in the first place, in a situation like this. I wouldn't want to miss my chance of escaping that is. I was terrified, what would a bunch of men want with a girl? I questioned myself once again.

They are going to rape me and leave me on the side of the road. I know it.

Only the thought of it made me want to cry. I had seen incidents like this too many times on the news. The consistent sound of my foot tapping against the truck wall was the only thing that could be heard throughout the car. My eyes glanced over my wrists and ankles, only to see some bruises and rashes. They were extremely sore and throbbing. A tear fell down my face as everything finally hit me.

My heart immediately stopped beating when I heard the car stop abruptly. Oh no. I quickly straightened my posture, wincing in pain from my sudden movements, before attempting to dry my tears on my shoulder.

As I heard steps outside, the back doors swung open, revealing the same guy that aggressively duct taped my mouth shut hours ago. I should've known he was bad news when I first met him that day. Back then, he had a somewhat benevolent smile on his face, but still, this vibe was still radiating off of him that I couldn't quite decipher. I still couldn't believe this was all happening. That someone would actually kidnap me. What have I done to deserve this? If only I had told anybody about the mesages. I felt so stupid. I needed to keep my head clear if I wanted to have any chance of escaping. I had to ask him about that day. I couldn't just let it be. I needed answers.

I took a moment to study him. He was wearing a grey hoodie and black skinny jeans. He had his hood on his head, casting shadows over his eyes in the moonlight. I really hated to admit it but he was beautiful, those grey piercing eyes featuring long eyelashes. He was simply good looking, someone you would easily consider a Greek god.

His expression was simply blank. I watched as he bent down, slowly peeling the tape off of my mouth. I watched how his eyes were deeply concentrated on the tape. He was avoiding my gaze, I realised. I wanted to look away too, but my brain simply found him surreal and intriguing. I swallowed down hard, feeling how dry my mouth was.

As I looked into his captivating eyes, I couldn't help the feeling in my stomach, I felt exceptionally nervous. I quickly looked away from his rather intimidating gaze. I diverted my eyes from him, studying anywhere else but him.

I felt the need to confront him about everything. Maybe he would reveal something.

"Why did you help me that day?", the words just slipped my mouth. I felt brave and I needed some answers. He quickly looked up and studied my face. I stared back with as much hatred I could gather in one expression. I didn't want to look like a wimp. He still looked unfazed by my expression filled with hatred, and tilted his head back down to unchain my wrists.
