As I gazed at my hand in pure shock, the room erupted into chaos. I quickly glanced at the crowd before me, and met my mother's cold stare. A look of disgust was plastered on her face, turning her usually beautiful ebony eyes to a dark, almost black, brown. I glanced at my hand again, not believing what I had just become. I was officially Spirit Bound. The most rarest element of all. I slowly lifted my head and announced as clearly as I could muster,

"I'm a Spirit Bound."

As soon as the words had left my mouth, two strong, muscular pairs of hands roughly grabbed my wrists and pulled me off the platform. I tried to escspe their grasps, but they still gripped my wrists tightly. I then began to scream and kick. I managed to kick one of my captors, but it was no use. The last thing I saw was Head Councillor Octavian's eyes staring holes into my soul before my vision blurred, then blacked out.

When I woke up, the first thing I saw was red. Literally, everything was red. The curtains, the bed, the walls, even the floor was red. The only thing that wasn't red was the lights. And even they were close to red. I looked down at my dress, and notice that it's silver colour had faded. My feet are bare, my shoes resting on the bed. I slowly stood, and made my way towards the door.

Just as I reach the door, it opened, revealing a man in a tailored suit holding a silver tray covered with an assortment of food. He walked past me and placed the tray on the bedside table and left the room, softly closing the door behind him.

I looked at the tray, wondering what it contained. I took a hesitant step towards it, still wondering what was inside it. When I took another step, the door opened again, this tine revealing Head Councillor Octavian.

"Good afternoon, Miss Cole. Are you well?" he asked me as I sat down on the bed.

"I am well, Head Councillor Octavian." I replay as civil like as I could.

"Please, call me Markus. No need for formalites here, Bria."

"I would prefer to call you Head Councillor Octavian than Markus, and can you please tell me, why am I here? And better yet, WHERE am I?"

"You're a very curious girl, Bria. To answer your questions, you are in my Head Quarters, otherwise known as the palace. Your family has been informed of your where-abouts and know that you are in safe hands. But why you are here is a very complicated matter, and your royal tutor will tell you about the matter. Until then, it's better that I don't tell you."

I stared at him, shocked.

"Royal tutor? Why will I be having a royal tutor? And why can't you tell me the reason why I'm here?"

"I do not have enough time to tell you, and you can ask your tutor when he arrives. George will come and get you when he is here."

"Who's George?"

"George is your assigned butler and personal assistant. Now I must take my leave, I have important matters to discuss."

I watched him leave the room, his red robes flowing magestically behind him. When the door clicked, signally that it was locked, I let out an inaudible sigh. By the looks of things, my new life was going to be a complete mystery. Why I was being kept here, I could only guess, and the more I thought about, the more I began to worry.

About 2 hours after Head Councillor Octavian's short, meaningless visit, George came into the room with a fresh pair if jeans and red shirt.

"Miss Cole, your tutor is here. Master Octavian has given you these to change into, since that beautiful dress must be brushed and pressed. I will be waiting outside. Knock when you're ready to leave."

"Thankyou George."

He passed me the clothes and exited the room, closing the door behind him. I looked at the shirt, mentally barfing. I threw it on the bed, and looked at the jeans. They seemed very expensive. I slipped out of my dress and got changed into the hideous red shirt and the expensive jeans. Once I was done, I opened the door, and left the room that I had been left in for god knows how long.
