chapter two

eddie was absolutely correct.

it was stuffy and the lights were too dim and it was loud and smelt like too much cologne and sweat. he was absolutely one hundred percent correct.

stan had left him and bill awhile ago to go back stage. it was a small room. the stage took up most the space and it looked like it had been there forever and not checked recently for safety. christmas lights hung on the back of the stage reminding him of a garage band. it kind of was.

bill was bummed that drinks weren't allowed in and eddie was so thankful. if he had to be here he at least didn't want to get puke on his shoes. it would probably be bills puke too.

"how h-have we not figured out one of s-stans shows? there's tons of p-people here.." bill said as he scanned the room for a distraction.

eddie nodded scooting closer to bill. there were too many people. he tried to hold down his nerves but kept thinking of all the germs. the grime and musty smell of the basement. it was too much.

"bill-" eddie began tugging on bills sleeve. he looked up at him and bill was staring across the room having a conversation with his eyes with some stranger. it was gross to watch. eddie grumbled and left bills side without him noticing.

the mic made an ear splitting noise as the band came on stage. eddie cringed at the noise and then looked up as four people made their way on to the stage. he suddenly felt attracted to the stage like a magnet. he got a spot front and center as people gathered around the stage.

he looked up and saw stan tuning his bass. it was sleek and black, shining against the stage lights. eddie realized that it looked right for stan. like he was born with a guitar in his hands. stan caught his eye and eddie waved with an excited grin. stan waved back and even though eddie couldn't here it, he chuckled.

"thank you all for coming out tonight!"

eddies eyes looked to follow the voice. in front of him stood a boy with a colorful loud guitar hanging off his shoulder and the mic in hand. his guitar strap was striped blue, pink and purple. his guitar on the other hand looked hand painted. it was abstract and colorful and eddie wondered where he got the idea to paint it so... obnoxiously.

eddie couldn't see his face due to the fact that he was literally standing over eddie at a weird angle. he couldn't remember the names stan had told him in the diner. he lost his train of thought as the lead singer spoke again.

"it's a short show tonight but we hope you like it fuckers" everyone cheered and eddie couldn't help but laugh at the fact he called his fans "fuckers".

the first song started off with synths played on the keyboard by a boy with light brown hair and a kind looking face. eddie noticed his tounge stuck out the corner of his mouth in concentration. of course that's what eddie noticed of all things.

everyone around eddie bobbed their head to the keyboard and drum mix. a girl with short hair and a bright smile played the drums. eddie though he recognized her fiery hair from somewhere but couldn't think with the loud music blasting.

the lead singer began singing and eddie felt a chill up his spine. the boy had stepped back, giving eddie a better view of him. he still couldn't see with the bright lights but his voice made eddie smile. not to mention that this was one of his favorite songs ever.

"I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can so I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can so I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes"
