Virgil

I sigh, thankful that I finally have lunch. Sure, school lunch is shitty, but they have snacks that I can get instead. I'm not about to eat that shit, I've seen stories about the horrors of school lunch.

The next thing I know is that I can feel somebody hit my back and I trip down the last three steps of the stairs, my face hitting the floor (face, to the flooor. I'll go home- Author). There's laughing and everyone walks past me. "Watch your step, Virgin!"

Please don't let that become a thing. Don't let that stick.

I get up, ignoring everything and just walking through the small area to grab snacks and pay. It's hard, but I manage to find an empty table.

I thought middle school was bad.

Thomas appears out of fucking nowhere and sits on the other side of the table, dropping his bag on the floor. "What are the chances of us having the same lunch? How's your first day been?" I roll my eyes. "Well, I am now know as Virgin and not Virgil, so fan-freaking-tastic."

Even though I said it sarcastically, Thomas still looks concerned when I tell him this. "It's fine, Thomas. I'm sure that it'll pass."

He goes to say something, but there's yelling from a few tables over. "Come on... it's the first day." Thomas sighs, watching. I don't know what he's talking about, but all I see is two people standing by a kid in my grade, who was just sitting down and eating his lunch.

The rest of the caf heard this too and have gone completely quiet. Using Thomas's vague description, I'm guessing that the two people standing are Logic and Morality.

I look around, but there is literally no adult to be seen. Aren't there supposed to be at least two adults in the caf? And where are the lunch people?

I can't hear exactly what they're saying, but they say something about where the kid in my grade is sitting. I don't know what he says, but I can tell by the facial expression and the fact that at least half of the people in the room gasp that he said something snarky.

Within a moment Logic grabs the guy by his shirt, pulling him up and saying something quietly. Whatever he said, the kid is mortified and rambling. Logic scoffs, using the kid's shirt to throw him on the ground before sitting down exactly where he was. Morality follows, sitting next to Logic as the kid scurries away with his lunch box.

"Hm, they must be in a good mood today." I turn back to Thomas when he says this. "Good mood? They just threw a Freshman to the ground for sitting at a table." How the hell is that a good mood?

"Well, that's their table. Nobody else in any of their lunch waves touches it. Then again, Freshmen wouldn't know. Last time somebody sat there, they were found in the men's bathroom, completely drenched."

I eat a chip from the bag I bought before making a comment. "A swirly? That doesn't sound that bad. Sure, it's awful, but you made it sound way worse."

"I never said it was water they were drenched in... but yeah. The only thing is that they were out cold and when I saw them, they had a couple bruises too. Might've been nothing."

I'm starting to see a bit why I was told to avoid them.

Out of the corner of my eye I can see one of the girls from my grade walk into the caf and sit down with who I can only assume are her friends.

Before I can go back to my lunch I get distracted by the girl again. Mainly because she stands back up while all of her friends look like they might faint. I recognize her now as the same girl who tried desperately to get Thomas to date her earlier, despite him telling her multiple times that he's gay. She only walked away because he started talking to me and she didn't, and I quote, 'want to be anywhere near that emo fuck'.

Such a nice person.

Even though she called me 'that emo fuck', I start to feel a bit bad for her when I notice that she's walking over to Logic and Morality's table.

"Come on... not this again." Thomas groans. "What do you mean?" For some reason the girl looks a bit nervous now. "Occasionally somebody gets the idea to try and ask them out. Hasn't gone well at any point."

If she seriously thinks that she could ask either of them out, then she is very mistaken. When she reaches the table, she just plops herself down into the seat across of Morality, and everybody goes quiet again.

It looks a lot like the conversation she had with Thomas earlier; her trying to insist and him looking very uncomfortable while trying to say something.

It's only when she touches Morality's arm that Logic steps in... sort of. He stands up, slamming his hands down on the table and glaring at her.

"He said 'no'. Go back to your table and let us finish our lunch in peace. On your way, why don't you accept the fact that not every male you come in contact with is going to want to be in a relationship with you! Also, how about you take some time to realize that if a person says that they're gay, then it means that they're fucking gay!"

There is so much to process. First off, fuck, his voice. Second, she is very quick to run back to her friends. Third, Morality is gay? Hopefully that means there's no chance of getting bullied for being gay.
