Ashlynn leads him through the tired old house and invites him into what's left of the living room. She blushes and hurries to the small coffee table and hides her baby pictures in her sweater.
Is she hiding something from me? Jonas thought, letting his mind wander to around the room. Is she embarrassed about her house??
He came back from his thoughts to see Ashlynn gazing at him sympathetically.
"Would you like a seat?" Ashlynn smiles and gestures for Jonas to sit down. He takes the seat to her left and holds her hand firmly. "You know Ashlynn, Im not going to hurt you or make fun of you or any of that.. right?" he looks fondly in her small face on the verge of tears. "I do"Ashlynn whispers softly. As if to save the day, Jane comes in with a platter of pierogies (German potato dumplings). "You guys looked like you could use some cheering up sweetie."
