I ran a hand through my messy dark hair and started to push the shopping cart, crumbling the list in my hands. Aisle 23... Aisle 24... I started counting in my head until I came across the aisle that supposedly held the sodas.
As I come upon the Cokes, I am greeted with a bunch of labels with the words "Share a Coke with... Insert a name here," and looked around at the names given.
Ellison, Luke, Reid, Frank, Margaret, Annabeth, and so on and so forth. I randomly grab one and turn it over in my hands and catch a 'per' on one of the titles. I glance over at it, seeing it says 'Percy' and laugh to myself seeing as a girl with princess blond hair, her nose in a book and her eyes a piercing grey, grab the bottle with my name.
"Hey, that's my name!" I said, trying to strike up conversation. (She looked awfully pretty).
She looked up, and I'll admit my breath hitched a little. Her eyes were prettier than I gave them credit for, and she was just beautiful. Not cute. No, she looked like a Goddess.
"Hmm?" She replied looking up at me. "Uh, that's my name. Right there." I said awkwardly pointing to the word 'Percy'. She laugh (an amazing laugh, may I add) and said, "Percy? Nice name-" oh my God she said she liked my name, "-whats the name on yours?"
"Uhh.." I fumbled the bottle trying to turn it upright and held it out to her. "Annabeth," I said reading the name. She laughed again, bowed, and said "Annabeth Chase at your service."
"Annabeth? Are you actually serious? Awesome name. Okay-" I started, trying to muster up as most confidence as I can, "-seeing as my name is on yours, and yours on mine... I'm thinking this is a sign of the Gods that we are soul mates."
"Oh, really?" She said in a challenging tone, about to break into a laughing fit.
"Of course! Now, I can't just let my soul mate walk away from me can I? Now, what do I need to do to go to the Coffeehouse on 7th with you, Annabeth?"
"Hmm... You'd probably need to go and convince my two friends over there to let me go. I've gotta warn you, it won't be easy." She said, closing her newly dog-earred book.
"Done." I said immediately.
She look amused, and gestured me to go and talk to them.
I push my shopping cart to the two girls, one with little braids in her dark hair and really colorful eyes, and another one with dark hair and skin and golden eyes.
"Hey there!" I said. They both turned around and looked at me. The younger one had a question-y look on her face and the other one was glancing back at Annabeth. "Me and your friend Annabeth-" I said pointing back at her, "-are soulmates. See, we had the others name on a coke bottle. It's destiny. Now, you get I can't just let my soulmate walk away right?" The one with colorful eyes look amused at this point (my face was probably really red).
"And you're here because she said we wouldn't let her leave us." She said.
"Yes! So can I take her to coffee?"
"Yeah! Go right ahead. Tell her to call us when ya'll are finished." The dark skinned one said and sent a thumbs up Annabeth's way.
I walk back to Annabeth and she says, "So you managed it."
I laugh, grab her hand and say, "Yep! Let's go soulmate."
I wasn't wrong.
