Deep Chapter 4:
Skylar and I had lunch in the garden and when the bell rang we went separate ways again. Spanish class. Spanish had always been my best class because my mother was always speaking it at home. She took classes at the community center on it and taught me as a kid.
Ms. Rodriguez had been my spanish teacher the past three years and I was excited to get to have her again this year. I sat in the front of the classroom.
Kids filed into the room and took their seats. A girl I recognized named Casey sat on my right, and a boy I didn’t recognize sat on the left. He had blonde hair and tanned muscular arms that came out of his grey tank top.
“Wow. That is the most gorgeous piece of man I have ever seen.” Casey whispered. All her friends nodded and giggled in agreement.
Mrs. Rodriguez asked us all to introduce our selves in Spanish. She motioned her hand down toward me.
“Avery, why don’t you start us out?”
I stood up to introduce myself. “Hola, me llamo Avery White.” said to the class.
Mrs. Rodriguez then motioned to the boy next to me.
The blonde boy stood up. “Hola, me llamo Kyle Davenport.”
His voice was raspy and deep. Casey and her friends giggled some more and fanned themselves with their papers. Kyle didn’t notice and sat back down.
Kyle looked nothing like his sister. She was so frail and he was so muscular and confident. Was he the one who picked up Lucas? I didn’t really get a good look at the beach.
The bell rang, and I went off to my last class, Shakespeare. I sat with Ryder again. Time passed quickly and then the day was over.
Skylar and I walked to our cars. Her red convertible was parked next to my Volvo. We said goodbye and I headed to the beach to pick up my work schedule for volunteer lifeguarding.
As I was pulling out of the lot I noticed the same white Range Rover that was at the beach the day before. And inside was Caroline and Kyle. It was all so strange, that I had seen unconscious Caroline only yesterday, and that Mr. Davenport was the reason for the new school. And then there was Kyle. I’m was sure Skylar would figure everything out soon.
