Chapter 2: The Phantom of Kingdom Crafted
The cloak was probably what triggered the stupid title. The way it moved in the wind when he ran, covering his actual body. But then, it also could have been the way he moved, so quickly like he was gliding rather than running. It really could have been a number of things, but Ty didn't care, as far as he was concerned it was a really dumb title.
'The Phantom of Kingdom Crafted' or 'Deadlox' as a shorter term. Who came up with that dumb stuff? He was just as alive as the rest of those idiots, and with some decent clothes on, he looked just like the rest of them too. No one would even know he was risking his ass to save people he didn't even know from ultimate doom.
The army did not like him very much either, it was only because he did their jobs for them, and he did it better. There were three sections of their army; there were the recruits, just anyone that wanted to help out. Then there was the elite force, they called themselves 'The Sky Army'.
Ty hated that name, he liked to think that there was no real reason behind it, but deep down he knew. And last, there were the generals. They didn't necessarily count as an army, but Ty had to admit, they were good, and they were out to get him.
The only reason they hadn't sent a full on search party out for him is probably because they knew Ty was doing more good for them than not. But he knew to keep his distance, because those idiots would try to capture him and toss him in jail to rot if given the opportunity. And all because he stole some food, he needs to survive as well and it’s not like he gets paid for what he does after all.
They had gone too far this time, broken into Ty's little home, left his few clothes and belongings scattered across the floor, broken and tattered. They made no attempts at hiding the fact that it was them either, the way left a note saying it was them, and that they were 'inspecting' the property. Ty ran in, looking in horror at his things.
He saved those guys asses just the other day and that is how they repay him? He hesitantly went to pick up a broken photo of him in his childhood, an arm was wrapped around his neck in a friendly way, and there stood his old friend. He remembered that day like it was just yesterday, it was taken about a month before everything changed.
"Ty!" Sky groaned, tugging at his skinny friend's shirt. "Come on! It'll be fine!"
"I am not going to jump off that tree and into the pond and that's final." Sky had been trying to convince Ty to jump off a large pine tree and into the pond that they swam in when it was summer. He wanted to climb to the very top and jump, Ty didn't even think that the pond was big enough, or deep enough to jump in without missing the pond or hitting the bottom.
"It's totally safe! I've done it before!" Sky said, nudging him towards the tree.
"I don't wanna break my leg." The 8 year old grumbled stubbornly. The young prince huffed, before giving Ty puppy dog eyes, which made Ty snort.
"Please?" Sky begged, and Ty knew Sky wasn't going to give in, and with a large sigh, he began to climb the tree, with Sky cheering and following behind him. "Go Ty! Go Ty!" He shouted, and Ty rolled his eyes, climbing higher and higher, until the branches got too thin to be able to hold his weight.
Ty was suddenly very unsure about this, and looked down at Sky nervously, who simply gave him a wide grin and a thumb up. Ty just hoped he wouldn't regret this, as he shut his eyes, took a deep breath, opened them again, and didn't even think, he just jumped, letting out a yell of slight joy. He collided with the water, and swam back to the top. "That was awesome!" He called, waving to Sky. Sky waved back, laughing.
"I told you so!" He said, as Ty swam out of the way, to let Sky jump. He did, and Ty cheered as he hit the water, swimming back up to the surface and grinning. They spent a lot of the day doing that, just using the nice day as best as they could. But like all other days, it ended, much to the young children's dismay.
"Ty," Sky mumbled. "Before we go, let's take a picture." He then pulled out a camera from behind a bush, and Ty blinked at the old thing. Camera's were expencive and not too common, but Sky was a prince so Tydidn't let himself be too surprised.
"Why?" Ty asked.
"So we can make memories stupid!" Sky huffed, waving the camera slightly. "Then we can look back on these when we're old and say 'damn we looked good back then'." This made Ty giggle, and he nodded in agreement.
"Okay then." Sky wrapped an arm around Tys neck, and held the camera out with the other. He had those stupid shades on again, his father gave them to him and Ty didn't know what was so cool about them. "Wait. Take off the glasses." Ty said.
"As soon as you decide to take your headphones off." Sky retorted, laughing. Ty huffed, giving up. Sky simply smiled at him, and Ty turned to smile at the camera. There was a flash, and the picture came out of the camera. Sky took it, waving it around for a while before showing the now visible picture to Ty. "You keep it." Sky said.
"Why me?" Ty asked, frowning at him.
"I always lose things," sky said with a shrug. "I know you'll keep it safe."
"Okay, I will, I promise." Ty said, smiling and taking the picture.
And he stayed true to that promise, and whoever had the nerve to come in there and do that to his belongings was going to pay the price. He didn't care if he had to break into the castle itself. No one did this to one of his few memories of his best friend.
No one.
