What was it doing there?

If he wasn't real.. why was this real? Why is it here next to me? Why is it there?!

I slowly sat up, staring at the crumbled ball. Staring at it until I had the balls to touch it. To feel it. To open it.

Once it opened, I felt my heart start to beat. I began to read. To read even if I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. To read even if my hands were shaking violently. To read... his words.

Dear Mari,
what you experienced with me was real. My feelings toward you are real. I'm dead. I know. And what you've been through are moments in heaven I created. I had unfinished business. And that unfinished business was making sure I'd find you again. I'd find you and make you mine somehow. Marry you one day. From that fight with Davis, I knew you were the one. But I couldn't handle the pain and the thought of going back to school to.. well Davis and the other kids, so I killed myself. It wasn't wise. And my dream of seeing or finding you again weren't fulfilled. Nothing was. But when I entered the gates, he had a plan for me. He told me to find you, so I did. And I made sure to make every moment while you were knocked out or asleep from something sad, a good moment for the both of us. I'm in love you Mari. I have been ever since high school. Ever since you saved me from Davis. I know love isn't great for you. I've been watching you from the clouds. I know what he does to you. And how he hurts you. How he uses you. I know you're struggling. I know you're broken from his cruelty. But I ask you to leave him. Leave him for the both of us. I love you Mari, and I wish there was a way for you to come join me here in paradise. But life is beautiful and it is something to be cherished. I was foolish and ended my life,,
and I never got to see you again. So Mari,
My name is Jeon Jungkook. I was a student at your high school. I was a shy and timid boy, never spoke to anyone. But I liked you. You were so outgoing and alive, and I knew you would hear me sing during lunch because I always saw you sit behind the cherry tree where I used to play my keyboard. I want to thank you for standing up for me. I know Davis isn't quite approachable and he was scary, but you stood up for me anyways. Don't be sad that you didn't save me, it was a foolish idea of me to cut too deep. Mari... I love you. I don't know how many times I've mentioned it, but I do. And although I'm dead and you're alive, all that's happened has been real for me, but real for you in your dreams. And since I can't be with you in person, I'm sending you someone for me. Someone better than that dumb boy of yours. He'll be nice to you, he'll love you, he'll support you and make sure you're always cared for. He'll be what I've always wanted to do for you. Until then, I'll be here waiting. Your wedding dress ironed and frilly. The ring polished and ready. You're mine Mari and you're my missing piece. I'm sure you feel the same way. Didn't you feel complete with me?

I gulped. "Yes.." I whispered, a tear hitting the paper as it slowly dissolved, like it was evaporating somehow.

Of course. You'll be Ms.Jeon soon. Until then, be happy for me. Live life for me. I'll be watching you from up here, supporting your every decision and thought. I'll be your guardian protecting you from the bad people. I'll be here for you Marinette. And I'll be waiting for the day you walk through those gates and I get to see my wife again.
                                     Lots of love, Kookie.

And with that, the paper fell out of my hands. Although it may seem confusing, I understood everything. His unfinished business was to find me. Me.
