//Suprise!! I know its been forever, but I can see how much this story means to all of you and after looking through it again I've decided to try and pick it back up! Updates will be spotty, but I'm going to try! This is a much shorter chapter, but I want to get this out for you guys!

He led you quietly through the dark looking over his shoulder to make sure you were following him. He pointed to a generator that had been worked on, it was at seventy percent, give or take.

You furrowed your brow and moved ahead towards it. You felt an arm reach across your chest, gently pushing you back. He shook his head and nodded to the generator. A misty figure approached the generator, walking at it facing the two of you. You watched, captivated as it seemed to kick the machine, an orange and yellow glow crackling over the creatures feet before vanishing. You watched in horrified awe as it faded back into a translucent shimmer in the air, like heat rising from a fire and losely patroled the area before vanishing into the night once more.

You looked with wide eyes at the man next to you and he merely shrugged with a sly smile before moving to the generator. He motioned you to the side nearest the wall, easier to go unseen you supposed. That was kind of him.

"Alright, kiddo, I'm assuming you're new. This isn't the best place for a crash course on how to survive, but it's better than nothing." He said crouching down next to you, letting the generator hide the sound of his voice. He tapped it lightly and it stopped sparking.

"Y-Yeah, Meg wad going to tell me at the campfire-" you started before he cut you off.

"Right, well, that may not happen-" he stopped as a generator lit up in the distance accompanied by a shrill scream. He cursed under his breath but looked back up at you. "Like I said, we need to get these done. Go slow and if you think he's coming towards you go for cover. Alert the guy next to you if you can, but if they dont move it's their funeral." He said glancing around again.

"What about-"

"Those things over there are death sentences. You get out on one of those things three times and you're a goner, sometimes two and if you're really unlucky only once. You can try to wiggle off, but it's not worth it, not unless you're feeling lucky." He said with a wink.

You nodded and relaxed a little, looking over your shoulder.

"If it's safe, try to grab someone off the hook. Dont linger once they're off though unless you know it's safe to. Don't think, know. Did she explain generators to you?"

"Kind of-"

"Alright, just take your time and don't be afraid to bail of you need to. And try not to run around like a maniac, like I said, only if you need to or if it's safe. Got all that? Good." He said and walked around to begin progress on the generator.

You nodded and began to work as well when he popped his head up and stopped you. "I forgot healing, try to go slow when you're patching up your pals, and eventually yourself. Make sure you're not close to the big guys when you do it either. Some times they just know when you're healing. I can't explain why or how, but they do."

You nodded again and he flashed a smile. "You'll do great!" He said before getting back to work. You weren't so sure, but his enthusiasm was comforting in a 'we're all going to die' kind of way.

You got your breathing under control and began to work tensing your arms to stop your hands from shaking. This was good. Everything is fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. You're calm. It's good. You fell backwards as you and Ace finished the generator. He chuckled lightly as you picked yourself up and moved away towards the shadows. No running, you recalled silently as you crouched down near a tree, Ace was quick to settle down by one a few feet away.

The creature didn't return. You supposed it was still chasing the injured person. Who that was you still weren't sure, maybe the girl from earlier...? It didn't matter. Nothing you could do, or so you assumed. You certainly didn't want to be caught. Again. You'd barely gotten out of the last chase, you weren't excited to run headfirst into another one.

You manuvered silently through the dark as soon as Ace gave you the all clear and you searched for a generator as a pair. He pointed one out to you and you approached it. Someone appeared to be working on it already, but Ace didn't seem to mind.

"Room for two more?" He asked with a grin as he took one side of the generator.

The person was another man he had dark rimmed glasses and dark fluffy hair. He was covered in dirt and grease and he seemed nervous. Nervous but focused. "This time. You're lucky, Claudette's been able to keep him busy." He switched his focus to you. "You're the new one, right? From a few rounds back? I'm Dwight, sorry for giving you the cold shoulder back there, it was a rough round." You nodded timidly and began to work.

"I don't mind. I can't exactly blame you, either. I'm (Name)." You said with a kind smile. He nodded and the three of you began to work. It was moving quickly, far faster than with just you and Ace. You were able to back off easily as it lit up. Falling on your ass again was not on your schedule if you could avoid it.

"Alright. Three down, two to go." Dwight said before Ace nudged him.

"Coming from behind, to the left." Ace said quickly before running away to catch his attention, hopefully. Dwight couched down and pulled you with him.

"Not a sound." He whispered as the bell tolled once more in a telltale
