A/N Linn's maid outfit is above. Just in case 😉
-------All at once, I felt cold all over. Confused, I opened my eyes. The warmth of his body was gone... And I didn't like it.
He was a foot away from me, smirking. My face flushed. He was teasing me!!
"A slight revenge for the other day, dear". He mocked. Instantly, his expression became businesslike. Did he have some kind of mood disorder? "Now, you may leave". He said, waving towards the door.
I nodded frantically, grabbed the broom and scurried out of the room, my face heating up. How could I be so dense? It was like he'd stolen all my feeling and words away from me.
Shaking the thoughts off, I returned back to work.
I was dusting through the library the next day when I found an odd looking book. It was the oldest, tattered and sitting on the corner of the huge shelf.
I looked around. Good, I was alone. I pulled out the book carefully and flipped the cover.
The cursive words written in ink were smudged and faded from age. I turned to the next page. There was a date and an entry beneath it. Must be some kind of journal.
I heard a knock on the door. Scrambling, I shoved the book into the large pocket in my apron and climbed down the ladder.
I unlocked the door and curtsied. Looking up, I was surprised to meet blue orbs.
"Y-Your highness! Forgive me, I was just dusting the library". I stuttered.
She nodded, expressionless. "Are you about done?" She asked in her weary voice.
"Yes your highness. I will go look at the other chores now". Giving one last curtsy, I quietly left her alone. Whew.. Close call. I glanced back and frowned in confusion when I saw that she was still standing there at the entrance, still as a statue, except the rise and fall of her chest.
I grabbed the broom from the supply closet in the kitchen and headed towards my nightmare. Standing infront of the prince's room, I curtsied for the alert guard.
"Is the prince inside? I need to clean the room". I informed.
He nodded. "He has been inside all day today. Go away. I'll call you once he's out".
I nodded and turned around. Okay then. For now I'll just read that book.
The door swung open and the prince stepped out. He was in a full sleeved and turtle necked black t-shirt and black pants. His hair was dishelved and his face tired.
His gaze fell on me and he frowned. "What are you doing here?" He demanded.
"Your highness, I was here to clean your room". I said after giving him a greeting curtsy. "I was just leaving since you were in the room. I will come back la-"
"Come in". He said and entered the room.
I met the guard's eyes. He nodded his head towards the room. Nodding, I entered the room.
I sighed as I drank in the sight of his messy bedroom. Did he wrestle or something? His bed sheet and covers were all jumbled and crinkled. His pillows were on the ploor. One of them even had a hole in it. A few parchment of papers were lying around here and there. His study table had messy papers and books stacked on it and a bottle of ink and quill was on a blank paper. His cupboard was wide open and clothes were trailing one by one out of it.
It took me almost an hour to transform his room back to perfect while he scribbled on his paper, murmuring to himself. Once I was completely done, I stretched upwards. Exhaling deeply, I turned to look at the prince. In awe, I noticed, he was snoring softly on his desk.
I smiled. All day he was cold, Arrogant and royal, giving an impression of hatred towards everyone unworthy of respect. He may seem like a very bad person, but inside, he was the opposite. Even now he had such a peaceful face. He looked so innocent. I pulled him up and leaned his back on the arm chair comfortably and covered him with a blanket. I proceeded to stack the papers neatly. I glanced proudly at my work.
I looked back at the prince and my smile fell. I thought back to the story doc had said. His father killed my family and wants me to marry his son for greed. I hadn't seen the King yet. He was out in the some other kingdom from business. The Queen seemed to have no emotions, resembling a dummy. Except, she didn't have a ventriloquist to control her.
Our plan was to assassinate the King. Dangerous, but emergency. We still have not decided what to do of the queen and the prince. What if they were supporters of the king's plans? Then we'd have to assassinate all three of them and both Hestia and Florence would be under my control. But... I didn't want to. I didn't want to take such great responsibilities and I knew I wasn't ready. I wanted to live as a human in the human world. Not a princess (future queen) in a parallel world.
