We were nervous when the news of the King arriving tonight was delivered to the maids. We knew we'd have to take actions soon to carry out our plan.

First thing's first, we needed to find a distraction so that we could neatly kill him, avoiding suspicions.

And, maybe God was in our side, when the distraction came too. A party celebrating the King's return. And rumors had it that he wanted all ladies from the ages 16 to 20 were to attend the party and that he would be searching for the prince's bride.

Ivan informed that maybe he was trying to look out for the lost princess in these girls. Then the rumors drilled that maids of those ages were to come too, making Ivan, Amy and Fay anxious.

Our plan was to make sure everyone knew that Amy and Fay were married already and I was engaged.

Unfortunately, that plan didn't last long. The other staffs became suspicious at the lack of knowledge of our pasts and 'husbands'.

"Well, what is your to be husband's name?" The maid in charge of making a list of all the eligible maids asked me suspiciously.

I was terribly horrible at lying. Amy and Fay fluently informed their husband's were Daniel Khusro and Gabriel Val.

"Well?" She asked again tapping her foot impatiently.

Realising I took too much time, I blurted the first thing in my mind. "Jack Frost".

I internally cringed and face palmed myself. Jack Frost???!! I could see the twins stiffen from the corner of my eye. Hey, I'm trying!

"Jack... Frost?" She asks.

"Eh... Yes". I answer confidently, glad that these people didn't know of Rise of the Gurdians.

"Well, I'll speak of this to the King". She informed, going on to the next maid.

I scurried off to the twins. They both had the same look on their faces.

I rolled my eyes. "I tried, guys".

At break, the three of us slumped onto our beds in the maids room. I winced at the awful back pain I had. I opened my mouth to ask the twins about our next steps when the door flew open, revealing the maid in charge.

"Ah, I knew you'd be in here". She exclaimed, though her face was beyond bored and tired. Poor woman. I feel so sorry for her....

"The King said that all unmarried girls under 20 had to come. And you're engaged. Sorry sweetie". With that thrown at my face, she turned away and left.

Let me change that. I feel sorry for her.. not.

I turned to the twins. As expected, Amy was pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration and Fay was banging her head repeatedly into her pillow.

"Well then, seems like we have no other choice but to go to that shitty party after all". Amy glared at me.

Fay snickered. "Yeah, hope your dear fiance Jack Frost won't mind".

I narrowed my eyes at their impossible behavior. "It's not my fault guys - know what, forget it". I stomped off to my bed and lied back down.

I was startled when the door flung open and
the other maids hurled inside, squealing and giggling, their eyes distant and glazed over.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

A maid, probably named Nikki (don't ask me why I don't remember names), paced towards me and gripped my shoulders, her dark brown eyes glittering in excitement.

"We're going to the ball! Can you believe it? We, the maids, are going to the ball!! First time in history". She let go of my throbbibg shoulders and started dancing with the air - more like an imaginary prince.

Then she looked back at me seriously. "And we have to choose the best clothes. It's just two days away gal!!"

She ran away and joined the other girls in searching for appropriate clothes. I glanced at the twins. They were picking on their nails and smiling a sickeningly sweet smile at me.

I forced a smile back. Great. Just great.
