Chapter 1
It was my first day at work. I decided to work at Nandos since, well, everyone loved it. Even me. I had completed training and was cleared for being a waitress and being a hostess. When I arrived my manager greeted me.“Nice to see you in uniform. Welcome to the Nandos team,” she said with a smile. Another reason I liked to work here. I didn’t have a crazy boss. “If anyone famous walks in, keep it cool. They respect that and I expect you to make them feel like normal people,” she warned me. I nodded and got to work. It was a nice, easy day. Not too busy. I recognized many of the customers since I was there so much before. I had a good night of tips and my manager said I was one of the best and most friendliest waitresses she had ever hired. I took that as a nice compliment and thanked her. As I made my way home, I stopped at the store for some ice cream. I was just in the mood and I was already happy, might as well add to the happiness. When I arrived at my flat I changed into my PJ’s and watched lame reality TV and ate my ice cream. When I was about to fall asleep, my manager called me
“Hey Grace, it’s Emily. I was wondering if you could come in an hour early for work tomorrow. We have some special guests coming in and I want you to be there. I know today was your first day but you were truly impressive.” “Well thank you, and I’d be happy to come in early tomorrow. I’ll see you then!” She thanked me and hung up. I wonder who those special guests were. Now that she woke me up, it couldn’t get back to sleep so I killed some time by reading a book until I dozed off.
