Today's devotion is about what God says about a single life. We all know about the "single pringle" days and the yearning of having a boyfriend. Yes, I've been there too. I've flirted, I've wanted a boyfriend, and I've forgotten that God should be number one in my life. But I've come to realize, even if it was very slowly, that Christ is the only one who loves me with all His heart and that He is the only one I need.

1. What Scripture says about a single life:

"I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs—how he can please the Lord." ~1 Corinthians 7:32

"...An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit..." ~1 Corinthians 7:34

"I am saying this go your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord." 1 Corinthians 7:35

2. In my own words:

Christ loves you. He went to great lengths to ensure you a place in heaven. He died for your sins, you are forgiven!

We should live in undivided devotion to the Lord and love Him with all our hearts. Can you do that while having a significant other in your life? If you can, great! Christ loves when two unite through a Christ-centered marriage. But if you can't, that's okay. Christ loves you too.

To hit on another topic, it can be very hard to keep your eyes on the Lord and not on boys. Trust me, I understand. That's why we're lucky we have a patient and loving Savior. Just know that Christ loves you with everything He has and no matter what happens, He is always there.

Lastly, if you don't have a man in your life right now, it's okay. Just trust in God because He will give you a man on His timing. Pray to Him, He loves hearing you. God knows what's best for His children!

3. Prayer:

Dear God,
Thank you for the love you've poured on me and the patience you have. Please help me and be with me as I struggle with putting others, in this case a boy, before you. I trust that you know what's best for me and I trust that you will give me a God fearing man when the time is right. In Jesus' name I pray. Let your will be done. Amen.
