You met the seven Hargreeves children on one of their late night escapades to Griddy’s Donuts. You weren’t special, or anything. But for them you didn’t need to be. You were the only person
who really treated them as normal people. You saw past their abilities, and quickly befriended them all. So, when you had figured out their father died your initial reaction was to see them. And, that is how you ended up here, in your best friend’s room. “Klaus, are you alright?”
“Oh, you know I didn’t really take a liking to dear old daddy-o. Him and his love for locking his kids up, am I right?” You chuckle lightly. Klaus was always the strange one of the family, and that’s saying a lot given who his family is. You understood though, as you were the black sheep of your family as well.
“And how have you been coping with what you see? Have you been sleeping? I know we don’t see each other a lot, Klaus. You’re my best friend though, and I really worry about you.” At this
point you had begun pacing, not even realizing it. Klaus’s brow furrowed. Aside from Ben, no one else really showed him this type of compassion. He hated seeing you this upset, and
knowing he was the cause of it made it all the worst. “Have you been clean, love? I know it blocks everything out, but it isn’t healthy. And, I’m afraid that one day my best friend is going to
be gone. I can’t do that Klaus. I cannot lose you.”He rose to his feet, and as you were walking back to the right he trapped you in between himself and the wall. Klaus knew you well enough to know if you kept going down that path you would cause yourself to have a panic attack.
Your eyes dropped to the floor, as the liquid escaped your eyes. Your breathing became rigid just as your mind repeatedly pictured Klaus, the secret love of your life and best friend, dead.
You felt two skinny fingers under your chin coaxing you to look up at Klaus. His other hand running through your hair. “You have to breath with me, alright (y/n)? I am not going anywhere,
and if I knew it affected you this much I would’ve tried to stop.” Your breathing had slowed, but now slow enough for his liking. “I don’t know what your seeing in that pretty little head of yours, but you need to focus on me. Focus on pulling yourself back to reality, doll.” You smiled a bit.
Klaus started calling you that one day when you guys and Ben hung out. It was another Griddy’s trip, except only the three of you. Anyone on the outside looking in would just see three teens as close as the three musketeers. You smiled a bit more at the memory.
You inhaled slowly, and deeply, grounding yourself.“Klaus, can I be honest with you?”
“Of course, doll.” His eyes never leaving your puffy ones.
“I love you. I always have.”
Klaus searched your face in search of a lie, but when he found none he closed the tiny gap between you two. Your back fully against the wall, and your faces closer than ever. Klaus slowly
leaned in, brushing his lips against yours. “You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to hear that.” He whispers. You stand on your tippy toes, kissing him hard on the lips.
After a few moments, he pulls back. “You are better than any drug, baby. And, if you’re willing, this token family drug addict would like to be your boyfriend.”
You giggle, closing the space between your lips again.
