 Olivia's POV

I woke up in the nurses office with a ice pack on my head; I looked around in a movement of haze and dizziness to see Derek sitting directly opposite me staring at me. 'You're awake!' he chirped.

I squinted my eyes, and remembered what happened 'You were the one who almost killed me?' I questioned, 'Where's all your friends?'

'They're off the hook.' He replied, his grin didn't leave his face.

'My sister didn't even care if I was dead or not?'

'Well I dunno, she was forced to go back to class. Seeming that I was the one driving, I had to stay.'

I adjusted the ice pack and sat up, 'I'm flattered. Now can I go?'

'Well not exactly. Since I ran you over and all we have to do this trust thing with eachother- at the end of school for an hour.' Derek stood up and sat next to me on the bed.

'You ran me over. Why do have to go to detention?' I moaned.

'Well do you trust me?' Derek asked.

'What do you think, Einstein?' I rolled my eyes.

'My point. You have to trust me for the whole thing to be over. Anyways it's just trust excersizes, you know like that one where you have to fall into eachothers arms.'

'I think I'll pass.' I tried to stand up but then I got really dizzy and had to sit down again.

'The nurses said your parents are gonna pick you up in an hour. In the mean time I decided that I will keep you company!' Derek smiled at me but I just turned my head.

'What happened to my satchel?' I grunted out.

'Oh.. Uh.. Heh heh?' Derek awkwardly chuckled out.

'You ran over my BAG??' I screamed.

'Hey! Lower your voice!' He patted my shoulder, I just pulled away. 'I'm sorry. I'll buy you back everthing.'

'Even an iPod and it's 2020 songs?' I pondered.

Derek huffed and murmured, 'My parents are gonna kill me..'

I looked at him for a moment- just a moment- he looked way different. His letterman jacket was crumpled up on the chair, his blonde hair had floped and became a messy brownish colour. His shirt sleeves were rolled up and his trousers were ripped.

'What happened to you?' I questioned.

'I fell over on the way here and scrapped my knee.'

 'What a trauma.'

'Shut up Liv.' He crossed his arms. He was normally really happy. Now he looked flustered and angry.

'Jeez.. I'm sorry? I didn't mean to hurt your...' I whispered. That's the nicest I've been throughout my highschool career.

'No.. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to take it out on you.. It just can be really frustrating, you know I have to have the time to captain the team but I'm gonna be stuck here with people forcing you to spend time with me.'

'You do know that the team sucks.. I mean you're good, but Mathew and the rest are kinda sloppy..'

'Mathew's in love with you, you know that?'

I smiled at him and replied with, 'Love doesn't exist. It's a figment of people's imagination.'

'C'mon you've gotta have been in love with somebody at some point in your life?'
