Arthur

When you had your baby, a tiny boy, little Cooper, the entire camp was entranced, but you were struggling. The heavy weight of a child on your shoulders in the strenuous situation the gang was in had wreaked guilt on you. The desperate need to get the boy out of the life you lived was resonant. But times came when you were happy with his life.

Arthur would sit with the boy in the evening, tired from his own life out of the camp, and draw little dirt pictures in the mud. Coop would roll about and giggle crazily. Arthur brought out a sound joy in the boy that you had never quite known. He enjoyed drawing the boy, riding out with him to the river and showing him exactly how to write.

Dutch

Dutch had always been a soft soul for children, after taking in his own sons. He would sit them in his camp and show Cooper the map, or the books he had under his canvas bed. The boy was always nodding, learning.

Dutch would let him sit on the bed with him, as he taught him to read maps, and talked about all the places he'd been before he was born.

Cooper was always entranced with the older man's charm and knowledge. Dutch would tell him to ask the ladies to dance, teach him how to charm a woman, but not be a nasty man.

Javier

Javier would sit the boy down, and talk to him about you. He would ask what the boy thought of you, and why he loved you so dearly.

He would teach the boy small words in Spanish, that would somehow get back to you, and pass him the guitar, just to teach him how to play it.

At the camp parties, Cooper would never be alone, especially when sat with Javier as the whole party sang. He enjoyed playing with the boy, and fishing was a good hobby when they went together.

Charles

Although he'd never been a father, or ever been anywhere near a child, other than Jack, he was incredible at being with children. Caring, considerate and patient, he would work brilliantly with the boy until he took him out to hunt for the first time.

Cooper would come back with a vibrant grin, and a tiny rabbit in his hand. Charles would send him forwards to you, and then totter off to Pearson with it.

He'd kiss your cheek and leave you elated.

Lenny

He'd never really even spoken to Jack, yet when he came with a flower for you, he gave the boy attention. He'd show him the books he read, or show him pictures in the paper. He'd attempt to teach him to read, but give up, and instead teach him to write.

The boy would learn quickly, and then Lenny would talk to him about all the wonders of the world, and eventually talk him into going travelling when he's older.

Once left with a moment alone, Lenny would let him wander over to the trees, then give you a fleeting kiss on the knuckles, before leaping off after the boy.

Sean

Sean loved the boy. Every time he saw little Cooper, he'd take your arm and whisper to you about how he'd take him away for a while.

Not at your wish, Sean taught him how to make fire bottles. When he was four.

Sean would make him laugh, and play with him whenever. Half the time, he'd give up his own job to look after the kid and teach him how to talk to the women. He'd send him up with a little flower, and charm them into giving him lessons in washing, reading, or dominoes. Always, he'd get away with murder in the camp with Sean by his side.
