As Elliot called out for a nurse. Violet screamed in pain, holding onto his neck, breathless. As Elliot ran up to a doctor and they got her onto a stretcher, she knew something was wrong. As she looked down at her stomach, and grasped Elliot's hand, looking up to him with tears in his eyes.
"I'm scared Elliot."
He kissed her head and tightly squeezed her hand as they ran down the hallway. As they came to the icu, the doctors confirmed that the pains were from multiple things.
"So we have good news and bad news."
Violet and Elliot locked eye contact and then looked over at the doctor.
"You are giving birth and some of the pains you are feeling are contractions."
Elliot and violet squeezed each other's hands
"But."
Violets heart shanked when she heard him say it. Elliot went pale and burst into tears.
"No."
Violet was in shock, she couldn't even feel the contractions anymore.
As she sobbed into Elliot's arms,
He tried to comfort her. As hours past she realized what was going to happen, she was going to have to have a C-Section, and then she's going to only have one baby instead of two. She felt sick even thinking about it. As they decided the dates, tears streamed down their cheeks,"I'm so sorry your going through this."
Elliot says, looking down at the floor and then up to violet. She didn't say anything. She couldn't speak.
She just looked up to him and nodded, as the doctors took her into the surgery room.
Elliot sat in the waiting room for three agonizing hours, and then he heard the cries, he walked into the room once the doctors motioned for him to walk inside, he saw her, the most perfect little baby in violets arms. He ran towards them both. Grasping violet and staring in awe at the small infant, as the doctors finished up with the sewing, they moved into a smaller room, Elliot glimpsed back at the surgery room to a small body underneath a white blanket, lifeless.
Violet tried not to think about the other baby, instead she focused on Alice, she was so beautiful, her eyes were a clear blue, and she had small tuffs of hair, they were obviously from Elliot's side of the family, but still she was perfect. The next day the institution decided violet was good to go, and they both headed back to the house.
As they opened the door, violet felt a small relief, they were finally home, there was still water in the tub from that night, but violet tried not to focus on that, she didn't want to be her mother. She wasn't going anywhere.
