Within an hour, the entire fleet was gathered on the parade field at ease, Penny at the front wielding the flagstaff, two of the destroyer's by her sides. The two smaller girls each holding national flags. Shaw hefting the United States flag at Penny's left, Yuudachi holding the Japanese flag at Penny's right. As I stepped out of the headquarters, one of the girls towards the rear of the unit called out "Admiral on deck!", at which the entire crew snapped to attention while I walked up to the front of the field, saluting in return before nodding to Penny to address the unit. At my signal, penny called out "Parade Rest!", a unified shuffle following as the classes relaxed. It was at this point, role-call began, going alphabetically by ship class, starting with the carriers, an ending with the destroyers. Both Japanese and American kanmusu were present as this was a joint fleet, finishing role-call with the poi-est of destroyers, Yuudachi, who of course just had to say poi as her response to the call.
