Ethan's POV

David, Emma, and I looked up as Grayson and Y/N both made it back at the same time. Y/N had a small smile playing on her lips, Grayson's face the same. "That was a quick smoke," David said quietly as Y/N took a seat beside him. "I didn't finish," She flashed him a smile, her eyes darting to Grayson before she began eating her food again. "So, Ethan," David cleared his throat. I turned to look at him immediately. Something about his face was off, and he seemed as if he was about to discover something. "Yes," I gulped under his gaze. "Y/N's been spending a lot of time over at West Egg. I'm sure you two are having a lot of fun?" He stared at me intently, waiting to see if my gaze flickered. "Um, yes. She enjoys spending time with me since you never seem to be home," I didn't intend for it to sound harsh, but the way David's jaw clenched and Y/N nearly choking on her food told me that was exactly how it sounded. "Well, office is busy nowadays," David looked away. "Grayson. You've had to have seen my wife once or twice since you and Ethan are neighbors," He stared at Grayson looking for a falter in his movements. But he didn't get one. "I've seen her before. Only from a distance though," Grayson smiled. "Only from a distance, huh?" David questioned. Y/N turned to him, hissing his name under her breath.

"Well, I don't think you'll see her that often anymore. I'm taking some time off of work so I can spend more time with my wife," He smiled at her, but there was something off about the smile. "That sounds nice," Grayson kept up his act, finishing off his food. He stood up suddenly. "I'd love to stay longer, but I have business to attend to," Grayson said. David stood up, nodding. "I look forward to our business together," David walked over to him. "You can expect a call soon,". David continued, but Grayson wasn't paying attention to him, his eyes lingering on Y/N for a second too long. "Our butler will show you out," David's voice dropped an octave lower as he noticed Grayson staring at his wife. Grayson gave him a small smile, nodding once before following after the butler.

Your POV

I noticed David's entire demeanor change as Grayson stared at me. "Our butler will show you out," He said in a low tone to Grayson. Grayson simply turned to him, giving him a small smile before nodding and following the butler. "Well, that's it for lunch. I think it's best you two get on home before traffic gets bad," David smiled at Emma and Ethan. They didn't question it, standing up quickly so they could walk outside to their cars. Ethan's eyes flickered towards me, his face having worry written all over it before he exited the room. "Dear," David turned towards me. "Is there something you'd like to tell me?" His jaw clenched. I stood up, shaking my head. "You didn't have to be rude to our guests like that. Emma's my best friend, but she's a gossip and will go blabbering to the whole town about how rude you were," I straightened my dress before turning around to leave the dining room. "I don't give a damn about Emma" He grabbed my arm and roughly turned me around.

"What I care about is why that bastard of a man was sharing googly eyes with my wife." "Are you serious, David? There is nothing going on between Mr. Dolan and I. Stop making accusations when you're the one out every night doing whatever the hell you please," I snapped hypocritically as I lied, ripping my arm away from his grasp and stomping out of the room. "Don't you turn this on me! I work," He followed behind me. "Really? You work all night? For someone who's having an affair with a wealthy man, you'd think she'd have the decency not to call during the day looking for you knowing damn well you're not here," I turn around and spat at him. His face softened immediately," I didn't-" "Mean for it to happen? Sure," I clenched my jaw. Yes I was being hypocritical, but it was better than telling him the truth about Grayson and I. "Where are you going?" He asked as I rushed up the stairs to our shared bedroom. I didn't answer, grabbing my night bag from our closet and beginning to fill it with clothes. "What do you think you're doing?" David asked. "I'm staying with Ethan for a few nights," I didn't turn around as I packed.
