"I can't believe we move in together in less than a week," I said, beaming at my computer screen. Seán giggled and brushed the hair out of his eyes.

"It's crazy, isn't it?" he asked, his voice crinkly because of the Internet connection.

"I'm so excited! When is Mark moving in again?"

He paused for a moment. "I think the day after or so? I'm not sure," he shrugged. I nodded.

"Alright, lemme go make a dent in my packing process," I stated, my mouse hovering over the 'end call' button.

"Yeah, tell me about it. Talk to you soon, Jax!" he exclaimed, waving at me through the screen. I waved back and smiled.

"Love you buddy! Talk soon!"

"Never again, bye!" he quickly responded, the call immediately ending after that. I chuckled and stepped away from my desktop.

I looked around at the rest of my tiny apartment which, in a few days, would no longer be mine. I put my hands on my hips and smiled slightly. In a way, I was going to miss this place. This is the first place I'd ever lived in properly on my own in my twenty-six years of life. Though I've only been here for about nine months, it was special to me. Not all of it, of course.

I've hated living alone. Prior to this, besides living with my family, I've always had at least one roommate. First was my only college roommate, after that was my older sister, and since then I've been jumping around between friends and friends of friends. I'd thought I had enough and wanted to live alone, but quickly got sick of it. I begged my best friend, Seán, to move to LA so we could live together, and after a few months of convincing, he agreed on the condition that we also live with one of his best friends as well.

And it was finally happening this week.

I tied my short, red hair back into a ponytail and began sifting through my things, putting them into their respective boxes. Usually, I'd be taking a nap instead of packing right now, but the excitement was motivating me to pack faster than I ever have before.

As the day passed, I finished packing the nonessentials of my kitchen and bathroom, as well as finished putting away miscellaneous items and most decorations. In the next few days, all I had to sort through were my bedroom and my living/dining/office room.

At the end of the night, I groggily made my way into my bedroom. I sighed and collapsed onto my bed. I lazily pulled my phone out of my front jeans pocket and updated Seán on my progress. We giddily texted back and forth before I could hardly keep my eyes open anymore. I reached over and turned my bedside lamp off, crawled under the covers, and let my eyes drift shut. I would regret sleeping with jeans on in the morning, but all I could think about was how excited I was as I fell asleep for the night.
