Thursday rolled around and I could barely control what excitement I had. I mean the star quarter back asked me out just three days ago. None of my friends could believe that someone like me would get asked out by a football player. One of my friends, named Myriam, thought I was joking around with her because the idea seemed so far fetched. But when she found out I was serious she asked me "Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"What do you mean? It's a date there's not a lot to think about," I told her with confusion in my voice.
"Yeah a date with the star quarter back of the best high school football team in the state. And what are you saying there's not a lot to think about? There's SO much to think about, like what could go wrong, where y'all are going, who's going to be there. And so much more."
"Well I never really thought of it in that way. But I'm sure everything will go accordingly."
"And what if it doesn't? Look honey I don't mean to be pushy or not supportive, I wanna make sure you're safe and happy."
"I know you are and I really appreciate it and I would probably do the same. But I'm sure everything will be fine."
"Well as long as you have hope then I will have hope for you as well. And he better treat you with nothing but respect, or so help me god!"
"He'll be good to me don't worry, I'll make sure of that."
"You know I love you and I only want the best for you."
"I know and I love you too and I only want the best for you as well. Also do you think you might wanna come over and help me get ready for my date after school ?"
"Sure I would love to I'll just tell my mom that you and I are studying for a test that's tomorrow."
"Ok sounds like a plan. See you later."
"See ya later."
I swear during seventh period I didn't even pay any attention to the teacher much less the lesson. All I was concerned with was watching the clock and waiting for that sweet bell that would ring one last time for the day, telling me that I could go home. As soon as the bell did ring I ran out the door as if it were the last day of school and I was ready for summer. I rushed to my car as fast as I could but no matter how fast I thought I was going it still didn't seem fast enough. When I got to my car there was a note and a rose on the windshield. I was really skeptical going up to it and my friend Nancy was following close behind me. Nancy saw it too and told me to be careful. I picked up the note and started to read it aloud.
"This is to the most beautiful girl in the school. I can't wait for our date tonight and who knows there maybe more roses where that came from. Can't wait! Sincerely Dean."
I looked at Nancy with shocked look on my face. She looked just as shocked as I did.
"How do you know that it's really from him though," she asked sounding very skeptical and worried.
"Because he's he's the only one I know who writes this badly but trying at the same time."
"True true. But I want you to be safe tonight, you don't know a lot about this guy. You only know what the gossip and rumors tell you."
"That's true and I will be careful. But I gotta go Myriam will be waiting for me back at my house. Love ya girl drive safe!"
"Love ya too. You too."
