I am always nervous about appointments. Why?
Well here's my list of reasons why:
1. The doctor gives report of your progress for the past few months.
2. If it's not going well you get ask why you're not doing any better.
3. Maybe an increase in insulin.
4. Vampires take your blood so the doctor can see what your average blood sugar levels were for those past few months.
Okay so I know what you're thinking... Why the heck do I call them vampires? Well that's simple because they take your blood and sometimes they take like 3 samples of your blood. I have a friend that had to go for an operation and they took about more than 10 samples of her blood, like what?! Are you like going to drink some of it? So that's why I call them vampires.
Also what I also hate is urine test because I don't like it, it's gross and obviously very unhygienic!
But all I'm saying is all of the above come with T1D and having to go through all of that and it's hell sometimes because you know if you're doing really bad you're going to get in trouble. And if you're doing good it's not all that bad then you get rewarded but it's always the constant being able to keep control and it's not easy believe me. It's really stressful and heart breaking sometimes, because of all the you can't do this or that and all these instructions given to you makes you stress and worry constantly.
The stress isn't good for a diabetic because it chases your blood sugar into higher levels and if it goes high enough than it could lead to long-term hypoglycemia, which leads to ketones, which is not very healthy for a diabetic because you could die or you could get severely sick, like throwing up constantly which makes your body tired and you sleep alot to recover like any minor sickness (for example a cold or flu) basically. Believe me I've have ketones before and I was so sick I stayed in bed and had a bucket next to me 24/7.

So yeah T1D isn't easy and for all my T1D family out there struggling, hang in there you're going to get through it no problem. You are strong and brave to take on such a challenge as T1D, which makes you a warrior. Stay awesome!

Karla ❤
