I was excited for my first and basically last year of school. I had walked with Vanya to school. "Just act normal. Don't use any of your powers." She said and I nodded.
We turn the bend and see the school come into view. I start to feel anxious, knowing that I won't make any friends and be alone for the whole year. "Calm down, Five." Vanya said. I look at her and sighed.
"Don't be so nervous." Klaus chimes in. He smiles. "You'll fit right in." I take a deep breath and enter the school building.
I already have my timetable and ironically, me and my siblings are split up. Except Luther and Allison. Cringe.
I head down the hall and into the room to my left. Only one student sits there. I take a seat next to her. She looks up at me and I could have sworn that I've seen that face somewhere before.
"Hey, um, I'm Five." I spoke up and she smiled. "Y/N. You must be new here?" She asked and I nodded "Why do you seem so familiar to me?" I asked and she shrugged. "I don't know. You seem quite familiar to me too. You said your name was Five, you don't have a real one?" I shook my head.
"Well, when I get to know you, I'll give you a real name." She smiled and I retired the gesture. "Five, how long have you been here?"
"I've lived in this city for my whole life. I've never known a different place." I responded and she nodded."So, you wanna meet up after school? You know, get to know each other?" She asked and I flashed her another smile. "That would be great. There's a lot you should know about me."
The Teacher entered and the first lesson began. It was quite nice being taught by some random person instead of my father.
It was nice being taught anything besides fighting.
My next class was with Y/N again, but with Vanya as well. I sat in between them. "Vanya, do you think Dad will allow me to go out after school?" I asked her and she sucked the air through her teeth. "I don't know." She answered honestly.
"After what happened to Eight, I don't think he'll let anyone out alone." I sigh. "You said alone-what if you come with me?" I suggested then looked at Y/N to my left. "I don't mind." She said and I looked back to Vanya.
"I think that'd would be okay. We just need to ask Dad. I don't even have to come with you, I can just say I'm coming with you and like just not come." She suggested and I smiled. "Thanks Vanya." Vanya smiled back at me.
When school ended, I quickly crammed all of my things into my bag. "Why you in such a big time rush buddy?" Diego asked while I zipped up my bag and threw it on my back.
"I'm meeting up with a Girl." I said as I walked out of the classroom, Diego hot on my heals. I headed to the exit and bumped into Y/N and Vanya.
"I see you two are getting along well." I said and Y/N smiled. "Yeah! So do you wanna catch a movie or something?" She said. I replied with a shrug. "How about this-we should go to the park. Then to your house." I proposed and she smiled. "Sounds perfect."
"Can I come too?" Diego asked and I shot him a glare. "Yeah sure! It'll be like a double date." Vanya said and Y/N shot her a glare. The four of us walked out of the school building and down the street.
"So, do you even know where this park is?" Y/N asked me when we were about a block away from the park. I nodded. "I've snuck out to this place a lot." I said, taking her wrist and leading her to the left.
We approached the park, it being completely empty. Diego and Vanya were on one of the swing sets. I lead Y/N to the lake at the edge of the small sanctuary.
She sat down and I followed. I watched as the sun made the water glisten. "So, Five. You said that you were going to tell me more about yourself." She said and I turned my attention to her.
"I mean, there's not really much." I lied. She looked at me and shook her head. "You're lying. You're hiding something. Oh, I should probably tell you that I can read your mind. I can tell how you feel at any given point in time." she said and I raised my eyebrows in surprise. Was she like me? Like Vanya and Diego?
"Impressive." I said and she smiled. "Any weird skills you should tell me about?" She asked. I smiled and immediately spacial jumped to other side of her. "Is this a weird skill?" I asked and she giggled.
She put a hand to mine and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she spacial jumped to the other side of me. "How'd you do that?" I asked and she answered with a short giggle.
"I can do things. So, Five. Anything else I should know?" she asked. I thought for a second. What else, what else? "Well, I'm 17. I have 5 other siblings. Luther, Allison, Diego, Klaus and Vanya. All adopted. All born on the same day." I said, her eyes widened at my words.
"I don't have well, a full name, per say. I-people just call me Five. I didn't want a name when my mom offered, but I think it might have been a mistake, you know. A name gives you some sense of identity. I don't have that. I'm just a number. A number for anyone to abuse." I sighed.
"Well, I think we should try out some names. You can legally change your name now, well once you turn 18. We'll find a name together, I promise." she said and I smiled.
"What about you?" I asked."My Parents are Ryan and Brendon Ross. I was adopted as well, born on the 1st of October 1989. I ran away from my previous parents and siblings because, well I can't remember. That's when I found Brendon and Ryan. They said that I looked horrible, like I had jumped off a bridge and made it out alive."
"We aren't as different as we think we are." I smiled. "Besides the fact that you have a huge ego." she said. I rolled my eyes and responded with, "Whatever."
She shifted closer and bumped her shoulder with mine.
"You're a pretty interesting guy, Five." she said.
"You're a pretty interesting girl, Y/N."
