Someday

Someday

She was standing

alone

at a bus stop

Her long brown hair was

blowing

in the brisk wind

I was standing

alone

outside a coffee shop

My double cupped black

coffee

warming me in the cool wind

She looked my way

smiled

she was so beautiful

A smile that said

Come

talk to me

I took several steps

but

remained where I was

I tried again

harder

but to no avail

She turned my way

hair

covering her beautiful face

She tried to walk

but

her legs could not move

We stood there in

Silence

a mere twenty feet apart

She pushed her hair to one

side

and smiled a sad smile

I sipped my coffee a

tear

in my eye

The bus stopped, she  stepped

on

one last glance

As the bus passed

me

I said aloud, “Someday.”
